Former President George H.W. Bush shaved his head earlier this week to show support for the son of a member of his security detail who is battling cancer.
Bush's entire security detail has also shaven their heads to show support for Patrick.

I know many here have animosity towards President Bush Sr., but this is class by the mile.
Which runs in that family big time (IMHO).
Alright Mr Bush you go dude
I miss them. Class. Current first fam doesn’t have it.
While I disagreed with his policies, I always admired Bush Senior’s personal story, especially when he was younger. In his personal relations, he seems like a decent person. So this doesn’t surprise me in the least.
I love and admire the Bush family but this child is too young to know what is going on. Someday he will know but not now.
I see the Bushes like I imagine the old-school Democrats, horribly (morally), wrong on policy, but not completely devoid of virtue, like today’s commies.
Class act. Period. The current would shave someone else’s head.
That, sir, is a man.
They are a class act in the “heart” dept. They love this country!
His daughter died of leukemia, long ago.
Cool makes me proud of this great Country.
Very nice gesture, indeed.
I wish GHW Bush hadn’t gone to the White House last week and kissed up to Obama, an avowed enemy of the United States who is doing his best to destroy our country.
He looks good bald. He has a nice neat chrome dome. He should keep it.
“Heisenberg”—the retired years.
never forget that the bush’s border policies totally murder the USA. Further their border policies are predicated on keeping the peace in their family.

It’s part of the New World Order which Mr. Bush is so fond of promoting.
You didn't grow that hair (bzzzzzzzt!)
Not everything is about immigration policy.
Ya know we got through 15 posts of recognizing what an honorable decent family this is and especially the elder Bush's unselfish tribute to this little boy and then we get you. What a shame you couldn't wait for another thread to voice such an opinion.
So does Obama’s border policies but the Bush’s love our country and Obama is the devil.
Especially Jeb, right?
(That’s not meant to take away from George Sr’s very classy gesture, of course.)
I agree, completely. But every so often in the day, I stop thinking about politics. Not that frequently, but it happens.
Grandpa Bush is stylin’!
What a nice gesture ...
Dear old Dad always said, “Class will tell.”
Say what you want about the Bushes’ policies, they always had class. Republican presidents always wear jackets and ties in the Oval Office to show respect - - Democrat presidents (I’m looking at you, Bill Clinton) jerk off in the Oval Office sink. Some presidents make weekly visits to Walter Reed to meet severely wounded military veterans. Other presidents get Marines to hold their umbrellas and get them drinks.
>>Heisenbergthe retired years.<<
I am not sure about that... ;)
God Bless the man!

George Bush got Zero respect from Vincent Fox, his Mexican counterpart. Why not? Bush was an honorable man from an honorable family. That’s not what respect is about on that level. Benedict Arnold was an honorable man from an honorable family but he got no respect from the British for his troubles though he was allowed to live out his days in England as an English gentleman.
We are still paying for a platoon of security guards to protect him. He can afford his own security.
The Bushes were an unalloyed globalist RINO catastrophe
I agree with you in comparison to the community organizer, but I have a feeling we won’t be so sentimental towards the Bush family as we see more of RINO Jeb.
It’s amazing...an elderly ex-President does an extremely classy and heartwarming thing, and the FR haters come out in force. Jeez louise, some of you need to lighten up.
You’re joking? A child of two can know what is going on. I remember a lot of things that happened to me at 2 years of age including some accidents I had. I even remember things when I was 1 year old. My brother in his 60s still remembers the fear he had when he went to a hospital at the age of 2.
Yes I believe her name was Robin and I think she died when she was 4.
No I wasn’t joking.
Just another Bush photo-op............/sarc
this site and it's participants are becomming so fragmented on perfection that it's becoming a pain to even lurk here any more........
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jesus could return and announce He's going to run for office and the Puritans here would run Him out of town simply because he chose to feed the masses without charging them........IOW, the first recorded account of Welfare handouts......
All I’m saying is he didn’t deserve to be skewered like that on a thread that started out to be non-political.
Not true. 21 years ago my 2 year old little boy had leukemia. He knew he was sick. That little boy so reminds me of my little boy. I can certainly appreciate what the family is experiencing. This is a wonderful way of showing the family support.
I have had my differences with both Bushes but they are good people and have more class in one finger than the entire rat party has collectively. Sigh. There was a time when I was proud to support a president.
All Im saying is he didnt deserve to be skewered like that on a thread that started out to be non-political
As long as you don’t mind the Bush’s fame and good name giving aid and comfort to the like’s of McCain Lamar Alexander and various amnesty pubbies in the house—then what the hey.
Trouble is we’re still in the middle of a death match over the fate of the country. This year’s amnesty battle is far from over.
I trust you understand that.
What a shame you couldn’t wait for another thread to voice such an opinion.

Gents I trust you understand we’re still in the middle of the amnesty fight in the house over the fate of the republic and the republican party is at stake. The tide has turned but the pubbies are still capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The bushes are all pro amnesty open borders guys. It keeps their family real peaceful like because they’re a border family. So border that even W Bush’s counterpart Vincente Fox had no respect at all for W.

You’re right of course. But the Bush’s are all open borders guys and this is the sort of AP news that’s meant to humanize republic murderers.
On Freerepublic—two posts before this nice human interest story on the bush the elder—was this article
Menendez: ‘Conference’ Will Get Amnesty Past House GOP
Breitbart: Big Government ^ | July 24, 2013 | Matthew Boyle
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), a member of the Senates Gang of Eight, told liberal activists at the Center for American Progress (CAP) on Wednesday how the Democrats plans to enact amnesty for the 11 million illegal immigrants: Get the House to pass whatever immigration bills it likes, then go to conference with the Senate bill.
What you have to conclude is that the reason we see the nice human interest AP story about Bush the Elder—is so as to humanize the republic and republican killers while others stick in the stiletto.
I didn’t mean he would not remember he was sick. I meant he would not remember sitting on the presidents lap. There will be photographs and he will be told the story but I seriously doubt he will remember it.
I understand. Cheers
