Mark Kessler really loves guns. I carry an M-16 at work, he says. He can do that because hes a police officer in fact, the chief of police in the tiny borough of Gilberton, a hamlet of less than a thousand in the coal-rich hills of Eastern Pennsylvania. But even in a profession where carrying a gun is part of the job description, Kessler is an outlier. Last month, he told a story to a local Tea Party group about how he was stopped by police officers in a neighboring town for displaying his machine gun to a friend, even though he was in full dress uniform. And that, Kessler said, is the problem with law enforcement today in a nutshell.
They want to kick butt and take names, and ruin lives, over nonsense. They terrorize people over a turn signal, he said, wearing an Oath Keepers t-shirt. Ive got better things to do with my time than worry about somebody whos got a broken taillight. Seriously, I really do.
Better things, for Kessler, include opening new chapters of the paramilitary militia group he founded, pushing legislation to fight the encroaching tyranny of the federal government, and making flamboyant YouTube videos that portray him shoot[ing] a libtard out of a tree or taunting the United Nations, but always shooting lots and lots of souped-up guns.

I don't really expect everyone to agree with me, but thought I'd share my opinion any way.
Really?........
I’ll bet he makes libtards pee their panties.
This guy seems like a complete nut and makes responsible gun owners look bad, but at the same time, would you rather an Alex Jones type or a complete tyrant in charge of your town’s police department?
Yeah, he’s not giving gun owners a good name.
Matter of fact, he seems like a plant of what they perceive us to be.
Kessler’s little video is on par with many of movies and DVDs made today using profane language rather than showing some true intellect....that is in his private life...in his public life he passionately supports our Second Amendment. I have no problem with that.
The fact that Salon.com is posting a story about this guy makes me suspicious of anything they say about him
Gun owners are going to be demonized no matter what.
May as well be hanged as a goat and not as a lamb.

What gives you the right to post opinions here at FR?!!!
(kidding of course. It's FR. Say with conviction.)
The guy's overt taunting makes me uneasy. But he can and should do as he pleases in this free country.
I’m with you on owning whatever up to NBC type stuff.
It's not over nonsense, it's all about MONEY.
This is in Salon. Hard left Mag.
Well, acting like a caricature some crazy gun owner isn’t going to help those on the fence.
Nothing will stop the loons on the far left, but the others who vote too will believe the loony left based on crap like this.

From little Alex’s ThinkPoleSmoking.Org blurb:
Alex Seitz-Wald is the Assistant Editor of ThinkProgress.org at the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Alex grew up in California and holds a B.A. in international relations from Brown University. Prior to joining ThinkProgress, Alex interned at the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS and at the National Journals Hotline, where he covered key senate and gubernatorial races. Alex also co-founded and edited the Olive & Arrow, a blog on foreign affairs for and by young progressives.
So did I, once upon a time...
I love “souped up” guns.
The cussing ought to be canned, because that does not glorify God or anything else. I don’t have huge objections to any of the rest. What’s the policing like in his jurisdiction anyhow? I bet it’s about as decent as it can get. Like our Random pal tried to point out, might as well be hanged for a sheep as for a goat.
I’m not a Salon fan. This article came to me visàvis Facebook.
But the article reinforces stereotypes which the anti-gunners use against the second amendment. I may use the liberties endowed by my Creator for good, or I may use those same liberties for a bad purpose. The liberty is a good thing either way, but my use of the liberty may not be good.
Our Congress just voted away the fourth amendment because they aver citizens must be protected from evil men. While many of these would be tyrants are against liberty because they seek to be oppressors and overlords; some are on the fence, so to speak, and struggle with the morality of pro-gun vs. anti-gun.
I would rather that those undecided see us as defenders of the innocent and responsible stewards of the public trust, like the heroes in a western movie (who ALL wore guns). To be honest, if Kessler was at the same bay in my shooting range, acting as Salon depicts him, I would probably move to a different bay.
