..."He asked the cashier, how many coffees do you sell in a day?” The store manager Joanne Averion said. Then he asked the cashier to ring him up 500 large coffees.

"The cashier asked if he was going to drink all that coffee, or if he is going to give it to someone?" Averion recalled. "He said, 'You have to give these coffees to the next 500 customers,’" Averion also said.

Too much multitasking. Thanks for catching and correcting that so quickly!

I’ve had 2 strangers buy me coffee at Starbucks in the past 6 months - one near my home & one in an airport in another state.

Not a feature your typical restaurant POS system is set up to accommodate directly.

Probably zero the price of coffee for the day. Or maybe manager-comp each coffee ... Or maybe, oh, forget it. Let the inventory system wonder about it.

>>Now this is news.

Maybe not the best choice, but it didn’t seem to fit any other category any better.

Same here, twice in the past two weeks. This has never happened to me before. Pass it on, it’s a great way to start your day, as the giver or receiver.

A nice gesture, but if he wanted to be charitable, there are better ways he could have spent the $$.

I am always amazed at the wonderful people I can meet here in the US. I have done my part by trying to improve my conversation skills (not natural for me) so I can make small talk with strangers. The reward for me has been the many interesting encounters with people quite different than those I would normally meet.

Only kidding about being hot (well, half kidding). Being hot probably helps, but it is not at all necessary for interesting conversations.

Buying things for people who dont need the help makes for a nice feel good story but is hardly charity or being the ‘Good Samaritan’ as in the Bible/Torah.
