In a major national security speech this spring, President Obama said again and again that the U.S. is at war with Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and their associated forces.
So who exactly are those associated forces? Its a secret.
At a hearing in May, Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., asked the Defense Department to provide him with a current list of Al Qaeda affiliates.
The Pentagon responded but Levins office told ProPublica they arent allowed to share it. Kathleen Long, a spokeswoman for Levin, would say only that the departments answer included the information requested.

Antiwar is banned here on FR for good reason — it isn’t a conservative site, or Republican, or libertarian, it’s leftist.
I don’t understand. Please explain.
Hmmm....going right wins elections, but staying right - during a Reps term - is...dangerous? What am I missing here?
You’re not missing anything. The GOP is eaten up with stupid.
Libertarianism is a loser because most Americans just want free stuff. Bush won twice because he got people to the polls to vote against gay marriage. Libertarians are weak on gay marriage.
The way they have tried to expand the party is idiotic, and will end up with even less support and loyalty.
So most Americans are now liberals? Conservatives certainly do not “want free stuff”.
Disagree on junior winning two terms because of gay marriage. He won the first time because gore's record under clinton on gun control cost him his own state in the 2000 election. As for 2004, maybe but I think the dems running a new england social climber who looks like the Snow Miser had more to do with it. I know people here don't want to hear it, but most of the country doesn't give a rat's ass about gay marriage. And most libertarians (small L) don't think the feds should be sanctioning marriage or giving and special treatment to married people. It's just more welfare.
I think you are confusing the Libertarian Party with libertarian philosophy (as I said previously, ‘little l’ libertarianism. They are completely different. Here is Ronald Reagan’s quote:
“If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberalsif we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.”
The Republican party succeeds when we champion on a libertarian-conservative platform.
Do you think Obama was elected because most Americans are conservatives?
Most Americans do not want gay marriage.
Most americans don’t want pickled hogs feet, either but you can’t dare them to care as long as monday night football, american idol and duck dynasty are played on scheduled.
Most live voters or most dead voters?
Even there, as an economic conservative he did his intelligent Reagan thing of finding the common ground they shared at the beginning of the interview, and then he proceeded to disagree with the libertarian leftism in social issues and foreign policy.
Reagan was no libertarian, and is too well known for you to create that ridiculous myth. In fact the libertarians had their most successful presidential election in history, running against Reagan.
If the election came down to one state then maybe you could reasonably argue they stole it, but Romney had to win 5 swing states to win the election and he only won one of them, North Carolina.
You need to wake up to the fact that Romney lost because he was a poor candidate. Romney thought all he had to do to win was not be Obama. He was wrong.
Romney needed to give America a reason to vote for him, not just a reason to vote against Obama. He failed to do so.
Believing in no fraud is believing that the USA is majority liberal and already lost, never mind believing the mainstream media as being utterly truthful.
There’s no doubt that Romney was a weak and even liberal candidate, but that does not make Obama a strong candidate by contrast.
True, if libertarians were intellectually consistent, they would argue that the federal government has no business interfering in marriage. However, what I have found is that most people of the libertarian persuasion are sympathetic to the cause of gay marriage, because they don't think it should be anybody's business who marries who. Libertarians tend to be very hostile and hateful to Christian Conservatives who are against gay marriage because libertarians do not believe in "legislating morality." Libertarian hostility to Conservatives and sympathy for the homosexual agenda go hand in hand.
Obama lost millions of votes between 2008 and 2012 but he still won.
