My dear, uneducated Cinnamon, let me ‘splain it to you. If you want to earn 10-15 dollars an hour, you need to work your a$$ off, get more education and apply for a management job. Because you see, if the wages of the worker bees are raised to $15 an hour, managers and supervisors wages will have to be raised to $20-25 dollars an hour. Then the increase in salaries will be passed on to the customer. A cheeseburger will now cost $5.99 instead of $3.99. Customers will then stop going to your fast food restaurant and the restaurant will close down and you will not have a job. You see how that works honey! So my advice to you Cinnabunn is to get more education and experience and keep progressing up the ladder until you are wealthy enough to open up your own business. Then you will understand how wages and prices fit together. However, if your English is the same quality as Rachel Jeantel’s, then sweetheart, you are $hit out of luck.
I call it “Officially Boycotting Fast Food Forever Day,” EXCEPT for Chick-Fil-A. I only make $9 an hour with a bachelor’s degree and experience,(sort of by choice, but there just isn’t much out there) no WAY will I help out these idiots.

I’ve had hourly workers get indignant when I told them they couldn’t spend half the day on personal phone calls. I explained to them that the time they are getting paid for at the wage they agreed upon does not belong to them, and if they thought otherwise they were free to leave.
And I always treated employees with respect, but there’s always some people that don’t understand the concept of work.
My son recently got fired from his part time minimum wage job at a comic book store. Oh he loved the job, until the owner got in a snit that several of his employees had gone into the “competitor” store (35 miles away) and fired all three of them. My son’s crime was that he said he didn’t think there was anything wrong with it, going where he wanted to go, on his own time, didn’t mention that he worked at the other place, nothing. He got canned. I told him there will ALWAYS be this kind of stuff at a minimum wage job. Crazy people, mean people, PETTY PEOPLE (omgosh!!!!) and to concentrate on his college classes and move UP. Preferably working for himself, if he can.
I suggest a boycott of all of the McDonald’s establishments where these protests have taken place. See how they like being unemployed. And with the threat of contaminated food, why would you want to eat there, anyway?
More people who have pursued education and who want to move up are finding themselves stuck in these jobs as Obamanomics grinds along.
The number of people who feel stuck and frustrated over this is growing. Eventually they will give up looking for that next rung on the ladder and turn their energies towards squeezing everything they can out of whatever job they’ve got now.
These protests are the start of that trend IMO. Priming large numbers of low-skilled workers to accept unionization and leverage the fact that their votes will get them bigger raises than their work performance will.

There is so much ignorance and down right stupidity in this statement it is hard to know where to begin.
A national payscale database, states Emergency Medical Techs get a high “starting salary” of 15.85. So YOU want to get that for flipping burgers as compared to saving someones life. Then you compare your JOB, which you CHOSE to take, to “modern day slavery”, on a day that you WALKED AWAY FROM THAT JOB. You are an IDIOT.
yep. that’s something they don’t realise. get up to $15/hr, and they’re going to lose a whole lot more than that increase in government benefits.

There is some of that I would agree.
But it is also to some degree the deplorable education that the average American gets in public schools.
The only education in economics these protestors ever got is probably from these Union agitators. And of course that education would be centered around management exploitation of the worker and living wage theories. Totally absent from this education would be cost, profit margin and competition.
This sounds very much like an SEIU(communist) inspired event. Fast food jobs were never meant to be career positions, just a step up the ladder.
