Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, a top general in the battle to defund Obamacare, says the only way the movement can succeed is if “historic levels” of Americans join the fight.

“The smoke-filled rooms of elected representatives and lobbyists … will never prevail,” Cruz told Dom Giordano, guest host of The Steve Malzberg Show on Newsmax TV.

“The only thing we can [do to] win this fight is if the American people get motivated, engaged, and mobilized at historic levels.”

Cruz said DontFundIt.com—the national petition drive launched by the Senate Conservatives Fund last week—has already gained 125,000 signatures. He hopes to have millions in the next 60 days. …

This bill is so poorly understood that neither its defenders or detractors can explain in plain terms to the American people why it should be supported or stopped. The Republicans would do well to list two or three easily understood, irrefutable points why the bill must be stopped. Otherwise it just sounds like more anti-Obama rhetoric.

Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that this will happen and if it does not, don't expect to do all that well in 2014.

The reason: conservatives across the board, ran on defeating Obama-care.

When those fired up voters, watch the gutless "conservative Republican Party," who ran on one thing, walk away from doing just that, why fight to reelect a bunch of liars!

GOP liars who are now only interested in giving citizenship to a bunch of invaders and who will vote for the Santa Clause Party.

These GOP-pretenders need to be tarred, feathered and run out of town, not reelected!

I am somewhat of an "irregular" here on FR, due to a heavy work schedule, but I'd like to submit a thought -- if it has been postulated somewhere else, just ignore me... :-)

Now, there has been much discussion about how Obamacare will drive many companies to convert full time jobs into part time jobs, that this is a big weakness of the law, etc. However, I submit that it is an intention of Obamacare to create this situation.

For one thing, it creates more dependency, as a lot more people will not be able to hold down two 29 hour per week jobs than those who will. So, real income of typical workers will go down, and more will fall back on gov't support. Never mind that the money for the support must be printed out of nothing more than the "paper" it is on.

Perhaps as important to the Dems in the short run, this approach concurrently improves the employment numbers as reported by the MSM. This is happening already: As employers convert to more part time openings, more laborers will be hired, improving the U1 unemployment numbers, decreasing unemployment claims, etc. This is dutifully reported as the economy getting better, never mind that the income of the average middle class family is tanking.

Hi Paul!

GOOD to see you!!!
You’re so right.
Fully intended to work precisely the way you outlined.
More dependencies the better for democrats!
Government checks in every hand translate into votes!

I think you are onto something, but I would question what was the actual intention in this 2,000+ page law that, I bet, not a single person read in its entirety, and dozens of faceless monkey “experts” with high degrees from our most expensive universities contributed to writing. No, the the intentions of Obamacare were nothing more or less than just “GOOD”, and that was enough for the Demo congresscritters to vote Ay. The two principal designers Dr Ezekiel Emanuel and Peter Orszag might have had some utopian ideas in mind, but the 2,000+ pages got away from them.

1. Obamacare forbids one to shop for healthcare insurance from outside of state.

2. Obamacare forbids import of cheaper medications from abroad.

3. Obamacare does nothing to discourage frivolous law suits against doctors, hospitals and pharmaceuticals.

4. Obamacare allows unlimited and unregulated increases in premiums charged by healthcare insurers, unlike utility rates, in spite of monopolistic practices by forbidding competition from outside your state.

Please note that I am not saying that my suppositions are THE intentions of Obamacare, I am postulating that they are two of many. With all those writers, plus the “designers”, and 2k+ pages, many a wish was included. However, a lot of the writing and designing was undoubtedly done by those who do see dependency as enhancing their political vision, power and capital, and few of those “Demo congresscritters” you mention would miss that, even if they were only briefed by staff who in turn had only skimmed though the bill.

I would also ask why you think the intentions were necessarily good? Perhaps when Obama came into office I might have accepted that premise — that he and his cohorts are mostly just misguided. Senator Paul Simon once talked to my church’s teen Bible Class, and I came away from that convinced that he was a decent person, even if I disagreed with him in many political areas. One of my best friends is (mostly) lib. But after seeing this Administration and its support cast in action to date, I just don’t see how that conclusion of misguided good intentions can be drawn for most of it. Not after Benghazi, IRS, NSA, Fast and Furious... Did you see Sen. Diane Feinstein saying of “Eric Snowden” (paraphrasal), “I want (to get) him.” The tone and look in her face would be enough to make any sane person go running to the Wicked Witch of the East for solace and refuge (which is apparently sort of what happened.)

Also, please do not focus on the dependency aspect alone. I think that “29 hours” figure was carefully chosen to make the maximum impact on the U1 unemployment rate.

I signed it. Don’t know what good it will do, but at least I did something.

How is it that we who didn’t vote for this a-hole are getting the government his supporters so richly deserve???

Belize, Costa Rica, or even Panama are looking better than this third-world hell hole (with its banana republic dictator) more and more.

God, I hate libtards!

Otherwise it just sounds like more anti-Obama rhetoric.

No matter what is put forward, the regime will basically say, "Na-uh...is not!" Then, the liberals and media will report it as "more anti-Obama rhetoric".

People need to take the points you say should be parsed out and go face to face with LIVs to get the message across. The Republicans are not the ones that will win this battle.
