How could anyone be ‘gay’ before ‘gay’ was invented, huh?
JEdger had WAY too much power. He was the NSA of his day.
RE: How could anyone be gay before gay was invented, huh?
From Wikipedia:
Gay is a term that primarily refers to a homosexual person or the trait of being homosexual.
The term was originally used to refer to feelings of being “carefree”, “happy”, or “bright and showy”.
The term’s use as a reference to homosexuality may date as early as the late 19th century, but its use gradually increased in the 20th century.
Here’s the reference:

and, since the media hates anyone who stands for law and order, over the years Hollywood has thrown in digs about him.
I remember an episode of Seinfeld when georges’ mother walks in on Kramer putting a man bra on georges’ father (only Kramer could pull something like that off), and Estelle says “he’s walking around like j edgar hoover”.
I know the history of this term, heard it a long time ago among the homoes, used humourously, I might add, yet the invention, so to speak, of this term for everyday use occurred not more than 30 years ago. My point stands.
OK, would the word — “homosexual” be more descriptive?
Hoover may not have been a closet case or cross dresser but he certainly was not a ladies man, either. Is there really such a thing as an asexual guy? Perhaps. Another asexual guy becoming so close to another asexual guy like Clyde Tolson? If I were a betting man I’d put money on Hoover and Tolson being repressed homosexuals or romantically involved closet cases (and I’m not a communist).
Did you get spanked for changing the original title and violating the forum rules? The word ‘gay’, by the way, appears in the article once, and then in double quotes.
Yes. Neo-Nazis and mob bosses also spread that myth.
A mean nasty communist plot to smear Hoover? I can see why the communists would have wanted to smear him; I also have a very difficult time writing off all the stories as total fabrications.
***...yet the invention, so to speak, of this term for everyday use occurred not more than 30 years ago.****
I remember seeing an old, old clip from some b&w Cary Grant movie in which he is asked why he is in a woman’s housecoat. He jumps and yells, “Ive suddenly gone GAY!”
The clip was from 60-70 years ago.
And you know very well that nobody outside of fag ridden Hollywood understood the implication!
Unfortunately, most people (including conservatives) have swallowed the malicious bilge the Left has used against Hoover, just as they once did McCarthy.
The term goes way back.
