As of right now, there are 35 seats up for grabs. 12 incumbent Republicans, 15 incumbent Democrats, and 8 vacant seats. Among all of these are 4 special elections for the seats of now dead Daniel Inouye and Frank Lautenberg, retired Jim DeMint, and appointed SOS, John Kerry.
5 Democrat incumbents are in red states. 1 Republican incumbent is in a blue state (not counting Chiesa in NJ, who will retire)
I have yet to draw up the likely rat opponents in open seat and red state races, but listed are the candidates on our side in the race for those seats. (This is subject to change over the next few months, and if I've missed anyone, tell me)
After giving it some thought, there are only 5 incumbent Republicans I'd support for reelection, represented by the long, green bar.
Jeff Sessions, Jim Risch, Jim Inhofe, and Tim Scott, I feel have earned our support to varying degrees. I wavered on Pat Roberts, and decided against including him right now. Susan Collins has earned jacksh1t, but if we primary her, we'll have another weirdo like Angus King pop up to steal the seat.
I have also highlighted potential candidates in other races I am willing to get behind right away
Tom Cotton, while not without error, is one of our better House members on many issues, and good early polling against Mark Pryor in Arkansas makes a win for him very likely.
Matt Bevin, the businessman challenging Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, seems like a solid conservative, and Mitch has the double downfall of being an election liability and a RINO operator. I'll back Bevin.
Greg Brannon is far more conservative than establishment hack, Thom Tillis. A doctor falling somewhere between Mike Lee and Rand Paul, he is likely to win the primary in North Carolina after getting the thumbs up from RedState, and I'll happily back him for the senate against Kay Hagan
Nancy Mace jumped into the most important RINO-crushing race in 2014 just recently. Lindsey Graham MUST be defeated at all costs as you all know. Richard Cash's campaign seems to be going nowhere and Lee Bright is too much of a Ron Paul acolyte. Mace talks a good game, so I say we give her a shot.
Four other candidates, Pat McGeehan (WV), Sam Clovis (IA), Corey Stapleton (MT), and Brenda Lenard (TN), I am keeping a close eye on to see how those races shape up.
Outside of that, the races are either too murky for me to make a good judgement on in terms of war chests, electability, future contenders, or I don't think any current candidate is acceptable.
I'd appreciate input from Freepers on this. I know it's early days, but especially when it comes to primaries, time flies quickly, and we know Tokyo Rove is aiming to make us lose again just like 2012. Any insight would be appreciated.
I can vote for Terri Land for the Levin seat. She’s not my favorite but she’ll do.

Matt Bevin has got to be an incredible candidate...practically perfect in order to replace Mitch McConnell. Kentucky will go from having a Senate Minority Leader to a guy among 100. I know that we want to replace McConnell but it has to be someone incredible. I don’t know Kentucky politics, but I do know that the state probably likes having the Senate Minority Leader as one of their Senators.
McConnell is actually getting beaten in the polls by Grimes at the moment. If we’re to take back the senate, we cannot afford to lose a single seat.
Mitch is unpopular among Kentuckians, who want a conservative. I don’t want rid of Mitch just because he’s Boehner’s senate puppet, but because he could end up costing us the senate. He’s gotta go.
I am not happy with McConnell either. As long as Gimes can win and Kentucky is happy with a very junior Senator then I am cool with it. I mean I guess I could use Texas as an example of a strong very junior Senator still getting things done or at least wanting too and that is Cruz.
I could see it being McConnell, I could see it being Graham.
I can't see both.
I wouldn’t vote for a single rat this time around. It’s too much of a knife-edge game with these numbers. As I said, we cannot afford to lose a single seat.
If Graham wins his primary in SC, he will be senator. That’s as set in stone as the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
McConnell is in trouble, and his opponent is a commie running the same kind of campaign that Colbert’s sister ran. We can defeat him and we must, in the primary.
