CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools may look at a new option in its effort to help African-American males succeed in the education system.
District superintendent Dr. Heath Morrison created 22 task forces to tackle a variety of issues the school district had to deal with.
One of those task force was tasked with ongoing issues dealing with African-American males in CMS.
The task force made several recommendations, including beginning a planning phase to open a K-12 African-American male school during the 2015-2016 school year. One black male student thinks that would be a great idea.
"The African American male wouldn't have to argue over females," Rising 9th grader George Whitley said. "And we can just get along and relate to each other."
Whitley also believes a new school with one gender and one race would be safer.
"We wouldn't have to worry about insults and racism." Whitley said.
Task Force Members believe black male students need to have a chance to succeed in the school system. They claim this new school would build leadership, business and academic skills for black male students.
Taxpayers say this school could teach black male students a good lesson.
"Growing up at a certain point," Taxpayer Vanessa Dixon said. "You have to stick together and know what it means to help each other."
CMS leaders are already saying this concept maybe against the law.
"If we are going to have an all black school - all male school," CMS school board chairperson Mary McCray said. "Then we must create an all female school because of Title nine." {snip}
Some people think this concept is racist and will return to segregation.

When do these children get to have fun?
It’s essentially the entire day.
Of course teenage boys would prefer to be around girls, but it's not good for them in school.
Boys, by themselves, with positive adult male leadership, develop an esprit de corps and encourage each other to succeed through their natural competitiveness.
Girls learn better through collaborative effort, which develops their confidence.
I know this through my own experience and that which I've seen in my two children, boy and girl, who attend a Catholic school where most classes are sex separated.
I "enjoyed" my later school years, with girls around, but looking back, I don't think it was best for me.
I see your point. Thanks for the reply.
Are they going to get that, or are they going to get an indoctrination in black liberation theology?
Reminds me of a Doonesbury cartoon from years back - Black students making all kinds of demands on campus and the Dean is reading the list and gets to the last one, “And they demand to have their own drinking fountains.”

The point of the Kipp schools and other all day/all year schools is to replace the missing parents with the government. They have to house, feed, clothe and discipline the kids because they are born feral on the democrat plantation.
Maybe freedom, or what's left, is better off with violent, impulsive illiterates than with more focused, disciplined race commies.
Gotcha. Well, I hope it works out for them.
No problem, just relating my experience. Not an answer for everyone of course, but the current setup, especially for kids with poor impulse control and no discipline at home, is about as bad as it gets.
Imagine what kind of opportunity this will present to people like Van Jones. If the get entrenched in the those school systems, we'll be graduating entire classes of potential NBP candidates.
Back to square one. The irony being that black kids back in the 50s took more interest in school, because more had intact families.
Yeah, I am not so enamored of the all-black part.
I don’t think they do-no matter how you feel about an intense learning environment, all day, six days a week, 11 months a year can’t be healthy-children need to learn values and appropriate interactions with other humans in varied environments to ever have a positive outlook on society and on themselves. And kids need to be allowed to be kids, use their imagination, read, play games, etc. That schedule barely leaves time for dinner with the family and church on Sunday-they might as well be in a boarding school in the UK...
Well, except if the alternative was going home to an empty house and hanging out with a gang while your "single" parent mom doesn't know how to discipline you, or keep you out of a gang.
The regimen is not all school, it's mentoring, field trips. I think the plan of the extended hours is to keep them for as long as they can under a "good" influence and caring atmosphere, instead of sending them home to hang out in the "hood."
Wonderful idea.
Then our teachers would be able to teach, our girls wouldn’t get raped, our boys wouldn’t get beaten up, and they would learn more.
Here in suburban Chicago, not many a Trailer Park Badass attends a prep school¿?
This may be due to a marked lack of trailer parks.
Thanks NotYourAverageDhimmi.
“CMS” recommends because it stands for “Can’t Mandate S***”.
