Russia Invites U.S. To A 'Tank Biathlon'

Russia has invited the U.S. to participate in a tank biathlon so that both nations may learn to play nice — with heavy artillery.

The invitation was apparently extended while Secretary of State John Kerry and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Shoigu in Washington on Friday. The "two-on-two" talks were intended to relieve some of the tension between the two countries, so the suggestion of a little friendly competition — under fire — wasn't out of place.

Defense Minister Shoigu repeated the invitation during a Friday press conference, and according to Russia's , Shoigu says the U.S. agreed.

"'We've invited our American colleagues to participate ... and our invitation was accepted by US Secretary of Defense [Chuck] Hagel,' Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Saturday."

NPR can't confirm this — calls to the Department of Defense went unanswered Saturday — but if such an event does take place, Shoigu says it'll be sometime next year.

I’d buy tickets to a tank biathlon. Sounds a lot cooler than the regular biathlon (which is actually pretty grueling, if not terribly exciting).

Now the Russians are toying with the the weak Americans. They know they have Obama on the ropes so just for the fun of it they challenge the US to something the US will turn down as being “too militant”, too violent and nasty, too not-reset oriented and only for bullies.

Of course the Russkies will laugh, tip a few shots of Vodka and call Obama a “homo” - all in good fun mind you...

Back in the day, on a smaller course, this was a regular thing with the NATO forces - the Canadian Army Trophy. It's good training all around.

Destitute and dying old mother Russia is beating the crap out of Obama and the world titters at the disgrace.

Kerry was called out, challenged to a duel. Taking his lace handkerchief from his sleeve and waving it about, Kerry wondered aloud, who will be our seconds for this duel?

Kerry however is no Scarlet Pimpernel, he really is a fop

The Russians are attempting to prove their latest tanks are more than a match for the Abrams. GD’s Abrams upgrade contracts have all been cancelled due to the fact the Army isn’t using the Abrams in Afghanistan. The Army is attempting to retire the tank but Congress won’t let them. This tank affair would be bad publicity for the US.

Also note that the 3rd place finisher in the 1981 competition was 1-32 Armor - the “Elvis Presley” battalion. Elvis is wearing the regimental crest on the cover of his “GI Blues” album.

...... if Obama actually shows his member, his base will explode in Peace Peace Peace at any cost wrath

There can be no such contest because the member must remain carefully zipped up and never never exposed

Russia wins by forfeit

Also found this Canadian Army Trophy Shoot Grafenwoehr . Nice late 80s "state of the art" gunnery.

Is there a successor to Abrams out there? I haven’t kept up with armor stuff in a long time. Granted the most I ever did in that area was a lowly 19K in a NG outfit.

I’ve seen it once some 5 years ago in Nizhniy Tagil. A local tank builders’ union team toasted either army and rival south Siberian Omsktransmash tank&railcar company’s teams at the time. A lot of fun, a kind of Russian NASCAR. In one of the events earlier army had an American exchange driver from Torgau program on T-80.
