South Carolina County GOP Censures Senator Lindsey Graham
Right Side News ^ | 8/13/13 | Joshual Cook

Tonight at the regular monthly meeting of the Chesterfield County Republican Party, members utilized a roll call vote to pass a 29-point resolution in favor of censuring one of the current United States Senators from South Carolina, Lindsey Graham.

The yeas carried the evening with 98% of the vote. This reflects the continued frustration of many in the party with officials who are elected as Republicans and then seem to forget the doctrine of the party when they assume office.

"The Chesterfield County Republican Party upholds traditional conservative Republican principles and we expect those who are elected under its banner to also adhere to this same standard," Chesterfield County Republican Party Executive Committeeman Glenn Gulledge proclaimed. "Lindsey Graham has committed a long series of actions that we strongly disapprove of and hold to be fundamentally inconsistent with the principles of the South Carolina Republican Party. The 29 points documented in this censure clearly illustrate this trend and make it clear that he is not consistently representing some of our most valued, time-honored tenets."

In accordance with the seriousness of this vote, nearly every member of the Chesterfield County GOP was in attendance or represented by proxy. The Censure Resolution, as passed, covers a multitude of well-documented instances of Senator Graham's cavalier disregard for fundamental, Republican values. A few of the points of contention are:

• Senator Graham's attempt to reward those who break the laws of our country with amnesty.

• The continued support the Senator offers in the arming of elements of Al Qaida, sworn enemies of the United States, in the Middle East.

• His belief that government spying on American citizens without due process is an acceptable practice.

• The disregard he showed for other Republicans in their attempt to prevent further erosion of our Second Amendment rights.

The members of the CCGOP hope that by taking this action, Senator Graham will realize those who are elected as Republicans can and will be held accountable for their actions. Chairman Jack Parker offered, "Mr. Graham has lost the confidence of this body in his ability to serve as our Senator representing the people of South Carolina in a manner consistent with our platform. We know that a significant number of members of the South Carolina Republican Party across the state feel the same way, and we expect to see more actions, like we have taken, to continue at future county meetings."

The Chesterfield County GOP is dedicated to the conservative tenets of the Republican Party, which include fiscal responsibility, personal freedom and protecting both the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

yep they get elected but as soon as they cross into DC, they get carried away with the headiness of power and start to feather their won nests and loot America at the expense of the taxpayer.

Good for the county GOP. I am sick of Republicans “reaching across the aisle” and calling it good

The ground is softening under his support, soon it will overspill into his loafers.

I agree, this “reaching across the aisle” is a one way street, whenever did you hear one of those commie dems every utter the phrase I intend to reach across the aisle, except to choke a GOP member or to pull him over??

Anyone been paying any attention to Harry Weed er Reid lately (thank you again Nevada) or his chief underling Shumer? These are the faces of compromise from the left and could be used for a statue saying “NO”

Scam leads libs like CBS Bob Scheiffer to call him one of the most conservative GOP Senators, not kidding.

they should vote Democrat if Lindsey Graham in the nominee. Then Trey Gowdy can run next time.

Is this a new censure?

No. Linda has been censured more often than not :)

List of FR articles.

It would be interesting to see how Linda's censure record stacks up against other RINOs.

So which two were secretly hired by the Graham campaign to split the conservative vote?

Seriously, having THREE conservatives run against Graham splits the vote at least three ways, thus guaranteeing a Graham victory.

Y’all need to chose ONE to face Graham.

I understand this. I did read it. Hell, we got similar laws down here in Alabama. Still, my statement is true IF the supporters of the three conservatives don't unite in the run-off for “Anybody but Graham”.

Also, there is the issue of campaign financing—the more the NOT merrier! Multiple candidates spread the wealth too greatly. The one thing Graham has going for him is barrels of money supplied by the GOPe.

Look, I only want Graham gone. Suppose he pulls a Murkowski come November? What y'all need is a separate Conservative party, and then run against Graham.
