CAIRO Gathering Thursday morning around a mosque used as a morgue for hundreds killed the day before, many Islamists waited confidently for a surge of sympathetic support from the broader public. But it failed to materialize.
With their leaders jailed or silent, Islamists reeled in shock at the worst mass killing in Egypts modern history. By Thursday night, health officials had counted 638 dead and nearly 4,000 injured, but the final toll was expected to rise further.
A tense quiet settled over Cairo as the city braced for new protests by the supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi, after Friday Prayer. The new government authorized the police to respond with lethal force if they felt endangered.

Clearly we need to keep chucking money down that hole. /s
I predict their next move will be to go out and kill some Christians because the other followers of the Prophet Muckman haven’t been nice to them.
YOU, sir, have been posting VERY funny pictures. Thanks for the hilarity.
next move ? they can do something other than kill people
Right!
Plan B
Hide behind women and children and kill everyone who is not a Muslim brotherhood extremist animal.
Same as Plan A
Why so Syrias?
[From report by those familiar with the actual situation inside Egypt] :
Many of us... are appalled at the misunderstandings about the situation in Egypt being propagated by even normally balanced international media like the BBC, and the way it has, in general, portrayed the Muslim Brotherhood as the victims of injustice.
By June 30, 2013, on the first anniversary of Morsis election to office, the Egyptian people had had enough! Perhaps as many as 30 million people came out to demonstrate against Morsi continuing in office [Egypt’s population is about 83 million] . . .
In a situation like this, the last line of defence for democracy is the army.
They alone have the power to re-start the democratic process and, by (very) popular demand and with due notice, the army did step in and remove the former President to the absolute delight and relief of MOST Egyptians!
The Coptic Orthodox Pope, HH Tawadrous II made a statement about the attacks on churches this week, saying that this had been expected and, as Egyptians and Christians, we are considering our church buildings as a sacrifice to be made for our beloved Egypt.
It is also important and encouraging to note that some Muslims went to protect churches and that, in return, many Christians then sent messages to their fellow Muslim citizens saying, buildings can be rebuilt again, but you are priceless, so stay safe, and don’t worry about the churches. And the Egyptian government also announced today that the State would take the financial responsibility for the rebuilding of damaged churches.
The Muslim Brotherhood have been, and remain very effective in portraying themselves as the victims to the media, pointing to how Morsi had been democratically elected and that the army coup was a major setback to the countrys democratic progress. They have known what buttons to push with the Western press and this seems to be the version that most of the World is hearing - but it is not a version of truth that resonates with the vast majority of Egyptians.
You are most welcome!
Islamists next move = die.
spiritually already dead. slaves of satan. damning the damned is superfluous.
However elected, Morsi & the Muslim Brotherhood put Egypt into a total mess in less than one year. The people rejected Morsi and asked the Army to take over. The Muslim Brotherhood had the invitation to join the new government, but said no and had its supporters do violence.
The Army gave fair notice the mass demonstrations & violence had to end. The MB ignored the warning. The Army cracked down - the demonstrators fought instead of dispersing - that’s how the deaths occurred - more the fault of the MB instead of the Army. Tough cookie, USA stay out, let Egypt sort it out.
And Obama was the catalyst.
I suggest self-immolation as the next and final goal.
The brotherhood doesn’t have the popular support they thought they did. They thought—shooting some cops would make them do some rash acts and win popular support-—They thought wrong. This will not become a Civil War—it will be done in a week.
Islamists reeled in shock at the worst mass killing in Egypts modern history.
It sounds like these Islamists are upset that they get a big dose of their own medicine.
