RNC Formally Drops NBC, CNN from 2016 Debates

by Mike Flynn 16 Aug 2013, 8:32 AM PDT post a comment

At its Summer meeting in Boston on Friday, the RNC formally adopted a resolution excluding NBC and CNN from hosting or moderating Republican primary debates during the 2016 Presidential campaign. The vote comes after RNC Chair Reince Priebus urged the networks to cancel their plans to air films celebrating the life of Hillary Clinton. Clinton is widely expected to run for President.

"Your credibility as a supposedly unbiased news network will most certainly be jeopardized by the decision to show political favoritism and produce an extended commercial for Secretary Clinton’s nascent campaign," Priebus wrote to CNN in early August. He also sent a similar letter to NBC.

RNC's concerns about the Hillary Clinton films were echoed by unlikely allies. NBC chief political reporter Chuck Todd called the planned Clinton films a "nightmare" for the network. MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell criticized the plans for the film and former Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs called it a "terrible idea."

What? The RNC suddenly manned up? About 9 months too late.

Of only it were only 9 months; It's been more like 20 something-odd years!

Great essay....

But if we are awaiting the likes of Stephanopoulos, Media Matters, and the rest of Gangsta-0's sycophantic, whoring American mainstream media to be shamed into reporting an iota of truth, it ain't happening. EVER.

Al Jazeera and Pravda are embarrassingly MORE credible.

I fully expect CNN and NBC to produce a series of 'fake debates', a "What If They Debated" series of segments, that have actors and actresses that are very convincingly made up like the candidates. Then they can still push a hard-left agenda to the low information voter.

....."Did you hear what he *said* in the debate last night???!? AWFUL!!!"

The RNC chairman is a silly little man. I doubt that there will be no debates on CNN or NBC...so he’s just making himself and the R party look like pathetic little twerps.

IMO...the candidates will likely force and/or attend any debate that CNN or NBC will carry because these candidates will feel the need for ‘exposure’ of their ideas and/or the candidates will feel the need to have to be out there to drum up donations.

Again, IMO, any person who runs for office should be prepared to stand up for their beliefs and have the ability to weave a story/answer/plan that the public will understand and accept. Any good pol knows how to answer the question w/ what the POL wants to say...it doesn’t even have to relate to what the questioner asked.

I mean for heaven’s sake...saw it happen enough this last cycle. Most often they (the pol) never answered the question that I wanted answered...so I know it happens...not saying I always like it. But hey...if you’re going to get a question like ‘when did you stop beating your wife’....your answer could be about reducing the role of government in __________. Then when they said you didn’t answer the question, you simply reply that the question was not relevant to what the public cared about...yadda yadda.

“W’s and the liberal Laura Bush’s daughter believes in gay marriage and would like to see the “unbelievably accomplished Hillary Clinton” run for President.”

Our overlords don’t even bother maintaining the facade of a two-party system anymore. I wish Americans had the courage the Egyptians, Libyans, and Tunisians have...

“The DNC will now boycott Fox and in return the RNC will fold.”

Why should they boycott FOX?

In 2012 FOX was shut out of the debates anyway. In 2016 I expect they will be again. See, no need to boycott them since the boycott is already in place.

Now, grow a real set of balls and include the Presidential Debate, not just Primaries.

I'd post that gif of Orson Wells clapping, but it always gets pulled. Bravo to you!

And while we are it.

* Our Talk Show Host as the Moderators and Panelist.* Levin, Prager, Hewitt, Limbaugh, Levin etc etc etc.
* The Primaries Close them down if you are not in the R column registered 60 days prior. None of this stuff like Massholes coming up to NH on a provisional ballot to FUBAR the primaries to give us a Toad to run as POTUS.
* What just CNN and NBC? why not the other ones too, they all suck! Fox, online, local TV and the Blaze would work just fine. NPR / PBS if they have no comentary for and aft of it...

Stupid. Very stupid.
They just cut the viewership of the debates by a large amount.

Big deal. Nobody watches the Republican primary debates anyway.

More like putting a stick in your own eye and calling it a victory over the enemy.

Or, in the case of Priebus, putting his head up his ass and yelling, “Lucy, I’m home”.

I bet now that CNN and NBC both host 2015 presidential debates for the GOP candidates, including Jebbie who will be out front. He’s the choice of the grand poo-bahs, but he may have trouble getting his niece Barbara to vote for him.

Democrats didn't have debates in 2012 anyway because no Democrat ran against the incumbent.
