Being alive and being a person is not the same thing. If anyone asks you the stupid question of "when does life begin" refer them to a dictionary.
Being a person you have rights that just being alive does not give you.
That's the whole argument for abortion on demand (and by extension, euthenasia) -- the idea that someone who is alive isn't a "person."

That is why my qualifications for person-hood are "is it alive?" and "is it human?" If the answer to both is yes, then bingo, "person".
They are making things complicated when they are very simple.
That would be euthanizing a newborn, btw.
“Sadly, there are some claiming to be pro-life that don’t really want to end child killing, or lack a strategy to actually do so”
the author could not get trough his argument without throwing a rock at other pro-lifers. other pro-lifers who are doing different things ... they all have to stop and only follow the approach of the author?
We all need to stand down and “get with the program”?
I don’t remember signing anything where I agreed to take direction from Steve. When I meet other pro-lifers who are doing things differently than I, or disagree with me I do not say, “Sadly, you are one who is claiming to be pro-life, but you don’t really want to end child killing, or you lack a strategy to actually do so.” Steve, you are self-appointed.
100% agree.
They showed this on fox last week. How stupid liberals be.
Thanks for the ping!
I agree with you that when gametes meet, that is a unique combination that will never be and was never made again (including identical twins and clones). Gd did that for a reason and we at this stage need to respect the personhood of this creation.
But the truth is that most of these egg + sperm meetings are not going to ever make a 2nd trimester fetus, let alone a baby, under ideal circumstances. Only around 40-60% of embryos made by traditional intercourse in a healthy, fertile, young couple are chromosomally competent (euploid) to become a baby. And in couples over 30 or less fertile, the %age of euploid embryos only goes down.
This is kind of splitting hairs in this argument, but I always pipe up to inform all my pro-life sisters and brothers the truth. While we must respect each embryo and let it develop to see if it is capable of being a fetus and then a baby and an adult, most will not. Each human is a miracle.
If we can get people to object to late-term abortions, we’ve made our point: At some time during pregnancy, the baby is a human being, one of us. Then all we have to do is negotiate the month, as in that old joke about the woman who agrees to sleep with someone for a million dollars.
We are winning, and this writer wants to take negotiations back to square one.
