Rural Coloradans to vote on breaking away as 51st state, angered by liberal policies on guns, energy
DENVER — You've got North Carolina and North Dakota, so why not Northern Colorado?
Voters in several rural Colorado counties will be asked whether they want to form a new state tentatively named Northern Colorado in the November election, a reaction to the Democrat-controlled state legislature's "war on rural Colorado."
The Weld County Commissioners voted unanimously at Monday's meeting to place a measure on the Nov. 5 ballot asking voters whether they want the county to join other rural counties in forming another state.
"The concerns of rural Coloradans have been ignored for years," William Garcia, chairman of the Weld County Commissioners, said in a statement. "The last session was the straw that broke the camel's back for many people. They want change. They want to be heard."
Three other rural counties — Cheyenne, Sedgwick and Yuma — also plan to place the 51st state referendum on the fall ballot. At least three more counties plan to consider the proposal this week at their commission meetings, said Jeffrey Hare, spokesman for the 51st State Initiative.
Known for its agriculture and oil and gas production, Weld is the largest of the Colorado counties exploring a break with the state after the legislature's sharp turn to the left with bills restricting access to firearms and doubling the state's renewable-energy mandate for rural areas.

How the Libs in the state legislature and in the cities react to this will be quite interesting.
My guess is that they will come out and say that the Northern Counties have no right to do any such thing and are subservient to the rest of the state.
But then Colorado wouldn’t be square. It’s one of only three states I can draw.

Per the Constitution all you need is 50,000 people and the consent of congress and consent of any states involved.

The fight against the obuma fascists is happening on the local and state levels. For conservatives complaining that nothing is happening to fight the rat criminals, here’s one example. Let’s see if the mammon-worshipping conservatives get off their butts, organize, elect leadership and support these Colorado patriots.
I’d like to see Texas separate from Austin.
Most of Pennsy should abandon Philly and Upstate NY should leave NYC. Then Jersey can give Camden to Philly and Newark to NYC.
I like the idea of gerrymandering the states to create new and conservative states. Leave the urban blight to the libs and let them wallow in their own self-destruction. The large cities have ruled national elections too long. For instance, in Ohio, we have 88 counties. In 2008, 67 of these counties went to John McCain, but the largest ones - Hamilton, Franklin and Cuyahoga are the most populace, so our state went blue. This shouldn’t be.
It would be easier to combat the hold the ‘Rats have in these centers of corruption then to start breaking apart states...IMHO.
You must be from Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin since those two cities certainly fit the description.
About 40 years back, northern Wisconsin folks contemplated forming a new state called “State of Superior”. The plan included Upper Michigan, Northern Wisconsin and No. Eastern Minnesota. Obviously, it didn't happen.

I don’t think those would be left wing.
Two new states means four new senators. And so on.
For those reasons, I don’t think the establishment will permit it (unless they manage to get new states of their own—Puerto Rico, DC, etc.) to match.
Its the war on conservative Colorado, not the war on rural Colorado. There is no way for my deeply conservative county to be contiguous with the possible break away counties. If this does go through, I wont be the only one considering a move to the north.....
