White House would consider Manning pardon request By Justin Sink - 08/21/13 03:16 PM ET

The White House said Wednesday that it would consider a clemency petition for Bradley Manning "like any other application" after the Army private was sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking a cache of documents to WikiLeaks.

"There's a process for pardon applications or clemency applications, I believe they're called," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said. "And I'm not going to get ahead of that process. If there is an application that's filed by Mr. Manning or his attorneys, that application will be considered in that process like any other application."

Manning's attorney said shortly after his sentencing that he would ask the White House for a pardon. He added that even if the president did not do so, Obama should commute Manning's sentence to time already served.

"What's at stake here is how do we as a public want to be informed about what our government does," attorney David Coombs said, according to The Wrap.

Manning will be up for parole after serving a third of his sentence. With time served, he could be considered eligible in less than a decade. His conviction on five counts of espionage and five counts of theft carried a maximum sentence of 136 years in federal prison.

Before his sentencing, Manning publicly apologized for having leaked the more than 700,00 pages of classified information.

"I am sorry that my actions hurt people. I'm sorry I hurt the United States," he told the court. "I understood what I was doing was wrong, but I didn't appreciate the broader effects of my actions."

Earlier Wednesday, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) said Manning received a "light sentence" for having "put the lives of our troops and allies in danger."

"Given the vast damage he did to our national security and the need to send a strong signal to others who may be tempted to disclose classified information, this is a dangerous conclusion,” McKeon said in a statement.

For the WH to even consider a pardon now would be pathetic and contrary to the rule of law but that means nothing to Obama and his lapdogs.

Anyone know of a comprehensive list of those convicted at court martial who've received Executive clemency or a pardon?

On second thought this fairy just might get a pardon of some sort on the morning of 1/20/2017 even if she doesn't get one sooner.

Maybe the white panthers should put a dead or alive bounty on Manning’s head. Then let him out of prison.

“Anything to destroy America and American morale.”

Indeed. Obama and his tribe are VERY good at doing just that.

That opens up the question of who amongst all the losers in his administration will the ONE pardon. Certainly Hitlary, even though nothing may have been pinned on her, but just to make sure; and Holder; and Big Sis and the rest of his cabinet; and all the czars, and all his illegal relatives in this country, and Geitner; the IRS toadies;

and help me out here!!!

Why isn’t he making acquaintance with the nearest tree and a rope? This guy is a disgrace to the uniform of the United States. Whether he is gay, purple, or loves hamsters is immaterial. He is a traitor.

Of course the White House is going to consider the application. They have to. Even President Bush PROBABLY considered all applications for parole. We wanted some guy to get out of jail and even hoped President Bush paroled him, but President Bush did not. President Obama will consider the parole request and then give an answer. Did you think President Obama can just throw them away?????

If he’s impeached, does he still get to issue pardons? Don’t think so. Another reason to have that man removed.

Actually, a full pardon for this little douchbag would be worth it given the kind of damage it ought to cause to the next Democrat presidential candidate and the Democrat ticket in general. It’d be best if it was done as part of a big pile of pardons issued Obama’s last night in office.

Judge Sentences Manning to 35 Years of Confinement

From a Military District of Washington News Release

FORT MEADE, Md., Aug. 21, 2013 – Army Pfc. Bradley E. Manning was sentenced here today to 35 years of confinement, reduction to the lowest enlisted rank, a dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of all pay and allowances for his July 30 conviction on a variety of charges related to publication of government information on the WikiLeaks website.
Army Col. Denise Lind, the presiding judge in Manning’s general court-martial, granted credit for time served of 1,182 days for pretrial confinement and 112 days of additional pretrial confinement credit.

Manning was tried and sentenced by military judge alone by his request. He pleaded guilty to 10 separate offenses, but ultimately was found guilty of 20 offenses, including seven specifications of wrongful possession and transmission of national defense information, five specifications of theft of government information, two specifications of unauthorized access to a government computer and wrongful possession and transmission of protected government information, five specifications of violation of lawful regulations related to his computer use and storage of classified information, and one specification of wrongful publication of U.S. intelligence information.

The court-martial now is in the post-trial and appellate phase, in which the government will compile a complete and accurate record of the trial and review the findings and sentence, officials said. Manning has the right to petition the convening authority for clemency during the post-trial phase, they added.

Let the Kenyan Klown do it. If that’s what it takes to wake the Kool-Aid drinkers up and turn them against him, then maybe it might have a silver lining. Maybe then we’ll be able to rid ourselves of this cancerous pussticle. Of course one can dream.
