Right. Many states are still union thug states. But don’t let facts get in the way of your arguments!

Yep...grocery prices have definitely increased since 2008....but, no worries, there's no inflation!!
If ANY of these dreadful numbers in the economy were happening under a Repub Prez...you'd be hearing about it non-stop, 24/7. Not with the Marxist media covering for the regime.

I looked on Forbes and it appears he was worth 20 billion in 2008 and is now worth 24 billion in 2013. He also gives huge sums of money to causes he supports (far left).
4 billion is not chump change. One can make a great argument that Obama has been good to Soros. The rest of us? Not so much.

@ post 14 - great points across the board.
I have seen two trends since 2008. Most of the things I buy are much more expensive per quantity (groceries, gas, nails, etc) and the biggest asset I have is worth less.
Best of all worlds, eh? We have a huge garden and lots of canning jars also. Orchard will take another few years, but it will be a nice one with plenty of variety. If we can keep the bees alive we should get about 8-10 gallons of honey a year.
Might look crazy now and awfully smart when it counts. Good thing I don’t care what others think.

It also means destroying the middle class, where the heart of the country is - the people that actually get things done. Make things. Move things. Build things. Service things. Repair things. Keep things moving.Precisely. The middle class is in a desperate race with the president.

Were in the middle of an addition and remodel and we found some stuff packed away in dipe boxes from 2008. There were more dipes per box than in todays box. Price up, quantity down in five short years. Wipes are about the same price, but the quantity has been cut in half.
It's shocking how fast the packages are shrinking AND the quality of some items are deteriorating. I've been buying the same brand socks for years, a name brand. It seems like each time I stock up again, they are thinner than the previous time. I know I'm not imagining it because I found an old package stored away in an un-used dresser. The quality of that package, from probably 10 years ago, was SO much better than the single-use socks I get now.

Ahhh. A canner! So tell me, do you think its worth the time? Would you get a pressure cooker setup or just stick with the hot water bath? Who has the best deal on jars? Im thinking about taking it up.
I've found that I just love canning. I started with a bit of reluctance, but after the first batch of successfully canned chicken that I could just set on a shelf - I found it to be very rewarding.
I'd go ahead and spend the extra on a pressure canner. You can use that to do water bath canning too, but since it does both, you won't have more appliances to store. Or buy.
I buy meat on sale and then can it as an easy way to store it (or when my freezer is full). Many people can things from their garden, but since I have a brown thumb other than the basil that is taking over, I haven't done that yet. Would love to someday! I jsut called some bacon (although not an FDA-approved thing to do).
I get jars at Winco when they have them. They are much cheaper in the fall and winter (off-season times for canning), about $8.50/12 quart jars. I've seen them as high as $10.50 though in the summer. Our Walmart's prices are a bit higher and they seldom have more than one case, if even that. Your area will vary, of course.
I've found it's a hobby I've gotten addicted to. I love the symmetrical lines of jars in my hall closet. Someday, when I get a root cellar/basement and can grow a garden, the lines of beautifully-colored jars will make me very happy.

And once the baby is out of diapers, they make the best dust cloths ever.
I still have some from 20 years ago. They are getting thread-bare now, but are still probably better quality than those I'd purchase now!
