DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS? SAFE, OF COURSE
WND ^ | 08/17/13 | Colin Flaherty

Except for the killings and the robberies and other episodes of black mob violence, the press and business owners of Memphis want us to know their downtown is safe.

But David Santucci is dead, the latest victim of black mob violence there.

The 27-year old Santucci had only recently began his career as a nurse. He liked music and concerts and the Memphis Grizzlies. He also liked his home town, though he knew it could be dangerous.

“Funny story,” he wrote in his Facebook page two years ago. “Just got robbed at gun point in driveway…haha cant beat living in Memphis.”

Santucci was not so lucky with his second robbery. He had just left a birthday party 1 a.m. Monday morning at a downtown bar near Martin Luther King Boulevard. Three blocks away from the Beale Street entertainment district.

A car of three black people drove by, screeched to a halt, then backed up. A man got out and shot Santucci in the heart. He died soon after, surrounded by a spontaneous prayer circle of restaurant workers and friends who came running at the sound of the gunshot.

Santucci was found with his car keys and phone in his hands. So there is some question whether robbery was a motive.

Nothing good ever happens on a street named for Martin Luther King.

Only been to Memphis once, on a business trip. Best advice was from a Tennessee co-worker who told me, Memphis is the Detroit of the South. Just get in and get out.

Yes, and it is sad. I was born in Memphis in 1944. My father was a main street merchant, and I spent many Saturdays on Main Street. Memphis had been rated the nations cleanest and quietest city in the nation, as well as having the finest fire department in the US, as they always hosted the national firefighters convention every year.

The city has apparently gone to the dogs over the last ten years, as the B/W ration has reversed from 60w/40b to 60b/40w.
Blacks now control all of the government, and all that was good about Memphis has been destroyed.
Memphis, and much of America, has “Gone With the Wind”.
I was last in Memphis in Jan. 2005, when I flew out for the last time.

There's your problem right there. RIP.

It hasn’t been 40% White since the ‘80s. As of this decade, it’s about 27% White, 7% Hispanic and 63% Black. If it hadn’t done a lot of annexing, the White population would be even lower.

Even in Shelby County, the population was plurality/majority White up until 2000 when Blacks became a plurality (49%) and Whites dipped to just under 45%. As of 2010, Blacks are now a majority of 53% and Whites have dropped to below 38% (Hispanics 6%). The population is approaching 1,000,000, but only the Black and especially Hispanic populations are growing while Whites flee to the suburban counties (especially either Tipton County or Desoto County, MS).

According to the prosecutors in Florida, going for your cell phone is basis for a beat down, not a shooting.

Word of advice from a local, the worst streets are the ones with the names of states.

There are places you don’t even go to during the day armed. Orange Mound is one of them. The county court house is another.

first 15 mins of the nightly news is all about the common criminal crime then on to gov’t corruption, these dems who own memphis have telfon coating as to their crimes and thefts from the tax payers.

Memphis is just another Detroit in the making.

I had thought about going there to visit some of their famous BBQ places. Guess I’ll have to stay home and cook in the back yard.

“Just got robbed at gun point in driveway…haha cant beat living in Memphis.”

That is denial right there. I began CCWing in 2008 and I was never even robbed at gunpoint.

Sad to see people fail to acknowledge the truth right in front of their eyes. Sadder still to know that TN is a gun friendly state and would have been easy for him to carry.

The beggars and panhandlers are extremely aggressive. Can’t believe the chamber of commerce puts up with it. Food and music are great downtown. Just don’t walk anywhere?

You have a better chance of surviving the 9th ward in new Orleans that you do Memphis.

I live in Memphis! Only a couple of the previous posters live within 15 miles of downtown. Yes, we have a few bad areas like any other town, but on a whole this is a great, safe town.
