Disgraced? By who? Not the people of NY, that’s for sure. They are heroes!

They can run as a trio and appeal to the Latino bloc as “The Three Burritos.”

I would label Filner as a communist. I think All-red and the “prgressives” want Filner out because he hurts their brand. They want to replace Filner with another “progressive who will move forward with the progressive agenda.” Filner probably would not have been elected last November without the votes of the 0bama voters. In a special election with lower voter turnout to replace Filner I think a Republican has a good chance of winning the election.

As long as he was a congressman in a position to advance a progressive agenda his behavior was apparently tolerated. As mayor, not so much I guess.

From your linked story:

At several times during his time as mayor, Filner has come to terms with an opponent only to change his mind. For example, Filner agreed to a deal with the Tourism Marketing District then refused to adhere to the terms. He also pulled permits for a remodeling project by Jack-in-the-Box in North Park and meddled in the development of a multi-unit complex called CentrePointe. I'm guessing that this may the "rest of the story" to this story. Everyone has known for years that Filner is a filthy lecherous scumbag. He just ended up crossing the wrong person(s) one too many times.

“How much is that going to cost the tax payers?”

I hope it’s a bundle so the voters don’t soon forget what they did by electing this guy. And further, I hope someone points out where the lawsuit money could have been put to better use by the city.

No, you are wrong! He’s much, much worse. His father was a Communist, so you know where Filner is politically!

About his father:

“Joe Filner, who died in 2000, ran in some high-level circles. He was a businessman and labor organizer in New York and befriended a man named Stanley Levison. A New York lawyer, Levison had been a financier of the Communist Party USA and became the closest white advisor to Martin Luther King, Jr.”

“Filner is thinking to himself, “Where did I go wrong?” Look at all the other prominent democrats caught doing disgusting things and they’re still in the news and loved.”

Where he went wrong is he tried to be a progressive mayor of what used to be a very conservative town. SD is moving in his direction, but it’s not there yet.

He shot his wad too soon.

The only question now is how much did he blackmail the citizens of San Diego out of to resign- legal fees, awards to all of the victims, full retirement benefits, etc, etc.

Oh I agree that is not how it works.
I just think the CA political machine will do anything to keep a Republican from being Mayor of San Diego.

I love San Diego. Its my favorite city on the west coast.

I think I read that the council will vote for someone to preside over council meetings, and since Democrats have a majority of the council, it will be a Democrat. The vote for mayor was close, and it may be an opportunity for Republicans to win back the mayor’s office in the special election, but please, no more gay Republicans, please.
