John Boehner Is Scared Conservatives Are Gaining Momentum
RedState ^ | August 22nd, 2013 | Erick Erickson

John Boehner is scared conservatives are beginning to gain traction on the issue of defunding Obamacare. How do I know?

David Winston is rigging a poll to get some desired results.

Winston is a John Boehner adviser and his preferred pollster. In fact, internally, some Republicans grouse that Beohner uses Winston to direct his lead on issues instead of just . . . well, you know. . . leading.

Check out David Winston’s poll question.

In a national survey of 1,000 registered voters done July 31 and August 1, the question, from pollster David Winston, said,

“Some members of Congress have proposed shutting down the government as a way to defund the president’s health care law”

and asked respondents whether they favored or opposed that plan.

Ted Cruz has not proposed shutting down the government.

Mike Lee has not proposed shutting down the government.

Congressman Meadows has not proposed shutting down the government.

In fact, everyone who supports defunding Obamacare has been very clear that they’ll vote for a continuing resolution, just not for Obamacare funding. If the government shuts down over that, it would be Barack Obama insisting his health care plan nobody wants gets funded.

The GOP Leaders have placed themselves in a no-win situation. It is not of conservative doing. They have refused to fight on Obamacare despite rhetoric otherwise and then gone out and pre-emptively spun against themselves any government shutdown.

This is all John Boehner’s doing. And, like his debt ceiling deal, it will probably blow up in his face.

My advice to Tammy Fay Boehner - Grow a set... FAST!

I'd be happy if he grew one. Half a man is better than none.

the problem now is amnesty

If the invaders are not sent home and residence in the US is not controlled, there is no nation left to save. We know the ptb aren't on our side unless we scream loud enough. Where was their outrage about Obama's "Dream Act" maneuver when so many unemployed US citizens need jobs?

I keep wondering if there are NO conservatives/Tea Party Ohioans, in his district, willing to challenge this quisling.

There is groundwork being laid on the ground in District 8.

Excellent commentary.

And it begs the question what is Boehnor’s motive? I suspect he’s been bought and paid for or otherwise compromised. Or perhaps more realistically his special interests in Ohio are controlling him by virtue of the contracts he steers to them. But I really don’t know why he doesn’t fight.

This is the reason I always say - don’t believe the polls, they are merely for propaganda purposes, not only with their style of questions but the results.

Why would he be shaking in his boots? No one will primary him and he will continue on as Speaker as long as Republicans hold the House.

Same as it ever was.

I don’t see them holding the house for much longer.

The GOP has given me not a single reason to vote for it.

It’s not that he has no balls. It’s that he’s playing for a different team. Democrats and Republicans have their differences in how to govern but they agree 100% on one thing - power needs to be in the hands of a select few.

Boeher plays for the Statists. Look at everything he does through that lens and everything he does makes sense. That’s his motivation.

All by design. They only want conservatives to step down like they did with Newt.

Actions are all that matters. Boeher’s actions show him to be a Statist. Party label is irrelevant. He’s perfectly fine with an ever expanding State as long as he’s in charge of it.

That’s why he doesn’t fight. He’s getting what he wants.

They want Conservatives to follow their lead - compromise their principles in order to win the elections. If a conservative does not do that, it’ the CONSERVATIVES fault the election is lost.

It's not up to him, but us. If he needs a good hard shove, so be it.

Yep, I can't even tell which day it is any more.

Thanks for those pics. Those are the memories I took to the ballot box.

Gee, I can't imagine why people wanted four more of obama instead of four of the new and improved fauxbama.

Exactly. The fearful cowards have no fight in them. They are like liberals and want everything handed to them. Not a drop of patriotic spirit in them which our country was built on. Because we fought, we survived and attained the ‘greatest’ title.
