'British special forces troops killed around 30 Afghan Taliban fighters in a night-time desert battle.
The crack team of SAS soldiers were sent in after a Taliban attack on a fort manned by Afghan government forces.
A US pilotless drone aircraft spotted the attackers and fired missiles at their convoy of trucks, blowing up two.
The survivors fled into the desert and the SAS were quickly flown in to hunt them down. They set up an ambush and after the rebel fighters opened fire, a battle raged through the night.
One SAS man survived a quick-draw shoot-out when he stumbled across a Taliban fighter. He pulled his gun and shot the rebel dead as a bullet from an AK47 hit him in the chest. His body armour stopped it and saved his life.
The battle last Wednesday in Helmand province was one of the most successful by special forces in recent years. And it came as 80 troops from the 4th Battalion, The Rifles were also sent into Sangin province to take on insurgents.'

SO 80 is a team somewhat bigger than a platoon but smaller than a company?
or something
whatever happened with that DragonSkin armor?
The muzzie was fortunate the SAS bloke shot him. It would have been far more painful had he used his bare hands.
There are hundreds of variations of 7.62 X 39 ammo around. and it’s been around for half a century so some of it is old. The SAS might have taken a hit, for instance, from a grenade launching round. One would not want to take any bets on body armor stopping iron cored ball ammo. Another thing that happens is that a lot of the ME weapons have been so poorly maintained and shot dirty that the bores and gas pistons aren’t tight so the slug might not have been “full power”. This was what happened to many of Saddam’s tank guns-—they shot low and ineffectively because the bores were worn out.
Need to move these warriors into Detroit.
Not everyone (US forces) over there sits and waits...believe me, there are plenty of scary guys that work in the night, in the shadows...
Forbidden for use by DOD...
Was Chelsea Manning a part of the group?

Yes, pretty much.
A British platoon can be from 30 to 75 men, a company 80 to 250.
These SAS guys got balls.
They have my respect and thanks for doing a tough job.
I like the British soldiers who are not PC-indoctrinated.
I think “Kill the Bastards” is an old Brit battle cry.
I LIKE IT!
Actually, a round doesn’t reach max velocity until about 50 feet out depending. If you have to get shot, close range is better.
God bless the Brits. They are damn fine Soldiers. The Aussies too.

They say everything is an AK-47. It was probably an AK-74, which is the 5.56mm and not the 7.62mm.
They look alike.
