California Begins Confiscating Legally-Purchased Guns

It is not surprising that the first police raids to take legally-purchased firearms from citizens are in California. Until recently, the state had the strictest gun control laws and the liberal run state government has always looked unfavorably on the Second Amendment.

Earlier this year, the state legislature expanded the list of what they call “prohibited persons” – people who have legally registered a firearm but, for various reasons, are no longer allowed their Second Amendment rights. These reasons were expanded to include people who are behind on state taxes, did not pay toll fees in a “timely” manner and a wide range of other minor misdemeanors or reported mental health concerns.

In preparation for the crackdown, the state authorized $24 million to hire additional officers to track down 20,000 people on the list. One person on this list was Joe Mendez.

A police officer came to the door and lured Mendez out of his house with a story of a hit and run report. Once outside, he had M16s pointed within inches of his face, was taken into custody and had all weapons removed from his house.

It is important to remember that these were legally- purchased and registered firearms.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

“The cops are wearing bright redcoats.”

Don’t target the cops.

Make politicians afraid to leave the compounds where the people have them surrounded and await them..mad people...people who regard them as the liberal vermin they are.

California gun owners beware: you’re firearms and rights are being confiscated by your liberal politicians.

This topic is SO important, I just cannot believe that Mr. Travis, the author, cares so little for his important article that he made SUCH a foolish grammar error, there.

Sorry to be picky, but that simply makes gun owners seem STUPID.

"the state legislature expanded the list of what they call 'prohibited persons'"

That was begun, when both political parties passed and funded the VAWA against fathers during the '90s. Have fun. Enjoy the slide.

..........................................................
Some people believe the police will not act to confiscate legal weapons from citizens in violation of the Constitution.

I hope this proves the fallacy of thinking like that. Police are a part of Obama Gestapo. They will do as they are told or they will lose their rights-—and their jobs.

Of course lies like this will cease to work shortly, and some people will tell police to go fugg themselves in which case people will die.

If we want protection we must band together or surely we will die separately.
I predict a time when a policeman riding in his car is the target of people who have been done wrong.
I can see police lured into traps.

Things are going to get rough.

“Mendez...had M16s pointed within inches of his face, was taken into custody and had all weapons removed from his house.”

The manner of the arrest is as disturbing as the CA governments disregard of our 2nd Amendment rights. Military style dressed & armed police pointing loaded guns in your face to take firearms registered by law for reasons as fake as back taxes! Tyranny is here and in our faces.

It is a strange article that avoids telling us where in California this occured, and precisely when as well why. What of the alleged offenses listed IOW did Joe do to have his weapons removed from his house. Also did the law enforcers have warrants?

I’ve read other articles about California gun confiscations, so I believe it, but if this article were the only one I’d read I’d have to question it as I am.

This is how they do it. They do what they want. They give it a nice sounding name. They deny doing what they do. They keep on doing it.

It’s poor editing. In a case like this, with serious charges being made, life changing charges, the poor editing makes me wonder just a little about the veracity of everything else.

When did this story happen? What is the update? Were there any legal challenges made by the homeowner? Pro Bono? Through what agency or law firm? Did his neighbors have a similar experience?I hope it’s an exaggeration, or new urban rumor, but time will tell. I still plan to take firearms training, downtown, before THAT gets restricted too.
