Plague of wild pigs has U.S. authorities squealing
Reuters ^ | AUGUST 24, 2013 | KEVIN MURPHY

A few years ago, Jim Vich would not have dreamed of setting up an elaborate trap to catch wild hogs.

But that was before Oklahoma was invaded by a plague of pigs that devour crops, uproot pastures, destroy wildlife habitats, spread disease to humans and animals, kill trees and even knock over cemetery stones.

If you trap them you can feed them a good diet for 30 days. Cleans up the taste some. Wild pigs will eat anything include rotting dead animals.

In Hawaii, feral pigs are hunted with knives—they call it pig poking.

We do it with dogs and knives in south Georgia. The dogs grab the hog by the ears/face, one guy grabs the hind legs and someone else goes in with a knife into the heart.

All the time the other “bay” dogs are baying up a storm.

More often than not this ends up down in the boggiest creek in the thickest briers.

Utter and complete chaos. It’s fun.

“Everybody’s happy.”

Good practice for patrolling the border.

Stuck pigs squealing = DemocRATs, after a Conservative takes the White House and the adults take over.

One of the Hitman games my brother had (I think it was the second one on PS2) used Ave Maria as it’s opening credit theme music. This video rem8nded me of that.

This comment bears a striking resemblance to what can be said about illegal aliens only the pigs don’t seem to breed as fast.

“There could be up to 8 million, up from a maximum 2 million in 1990, he said”

The part about only coming out at night, being hard to count, running 30 miles per hour, jumping 3 feet, scaling 6 foot fences, surviving in any climate, able to live on just about anything and all that.... well it really had me confused.

I do real well with a .22-250.

My friend won a Weatherby in a raffle. Unbelievably accurate. I got one for Christmas later that year.

Feral pigs. Much bigger nuisance, but tasty.

Apparently live pigs bring more money. Probably has something to do with keeping the meat fresh.

Are wild pigs safe to eat? Or is there a disease / parasite risk?

great idea. push the pigs towards the border and the illegals will have to navigate past 2 million of them at the border. cheaper than armed guards but if I were to dream I’d want both.

Faked picture. Look closely. The pig is on a mound of dirt close to the camera. The man is setting far behind giving the impression that the pig is lots bigger than it is. It is called “forced perspective”.

The farther back the man sits, the larger the pig looks in relation to him.
