Georgia Democratic Rep. John Lewis -- who as a 23-year old civil rights activist helped organize the 1963 "March on Washington" -- said on Sunday that Martin Luther King, Jr. should be looked upon as one of America's founding fathers.

Lewis said that he "saw hundreds and hundreds of young people" at the 50th anniversary events in Washington on Saturday, and "I said to myself, 'This is it', Dr. King must be looked upon as one of the founding fathers of a new America," said Lewis on ABC's "This Week." "He helped hold us together."

MLK as a Founding Father? The present state of race relations in this country indicates that there was no founding. Maybe a start but, today race relations are strained and artificial. The Black race and their pimps have only improved in areas that are visible such as TV, where there is a notable increase in advertisements featuring the successful, upper middle class Negro. TV has also added many black anchors and newsmen. This is not a problem but there seems to be no appreciation by the thug class that maybe their behavior is not advancing the race's acceptance. We fear blacks that wear their belts below the butt, showing their “undies”. This is certainly a prejudicial feeling but how else should an aware person feel. As long as the young thugs continue an “in-your-face” attitude, they will be unreasonably feared. Clean up your act and join those who respected MLK. No more headlines from OK or WA with horrible news of black on white crime.

"Going to retreat to my little corner of the beach in Florida next year and screw them all."

Try to resist that urge. Backing down, going along to get along, and going with the flow is why our Republic is on the ropes today. Now's not the time to turn away. Now's the time to face them down and dare them to take one more step. We've got to stop retreating. The time's come to stand, and fight if necessary.

Hell, in FloriDUH, there's nowhere to retreat to that they won't find you, anyway.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Liberals like Lewis have screwed up whatever dream Dr. King had. In some ways, the black community is worse off than it was when King was alive.

If MLK meant everything he said, he’d be ashamed of men like John Lewis, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Charles Rangel and Barack Obama’s black half.

That would be fine, if John Lewis and the other men and women who purport to be 'civil rights leaders' today would actually follow through on what Dr. King believed was best for black people. Dr . King certainly wouldn't be going along with the race baiting and hustling in which today's black leaders engage. And he for SURE wouldn't be silent in the face of today's ghetto rap culture, the rejection of education as a 'white thing', and the ridiculous numbers of babies born out of wedlock among young black women.

So yeah, go ahead and think of Dr. King as a Founding Father, but for heaven's sake, follow in his footsteps!

I have saved a picture from The Augusta Courier, displaying Martin Luther King, attending at Higlander Folk School in TN, a Communist seminar over Labor Day weekend, 1957!

Indeed. Talk about Marxist indoctrination. Way too many conservatives have drank the kook aid.

One would think Rep. Lewis has more pressing matters back home in his district

It is not his fault his legacy has been hijacked by the grievance industry..

MLK was a communist, one only has to read what he wrote to see that clearly. What do you call anyone who would advocate for a guaranteed annual income for everyone? Just one of his many communist ideas.
