We've extensively documented that radioactivity from Fukushima is spreading to North America.
More than a year ago, 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna tested in California waters were contaminated with radioactive cesium from Fukushima.
Bluefin tuna are a wide-ranging fish, which can swim back and forth between Japan and North America in a year:

I’ve seen robust men loose all respect for themselves once the symptoms appear. IMO, our government should be establishing crisis centers in every major city.

Seriously, I wonder where I could get a geiger counter and go through Safeway, Krogers, Publix and see if it starts crackling when I get to the Charlie the Tuna aisle.
True what you say - but this should be something that can be scientifically proven one way or the other whether the fish are contaminated on the west coast of the US - right?
Unfortunately there really hasn’t been much actual objective
research done on the issue of contamination in the Pacific and it’s effects on the food chain. We dumped enormous
amounts of radioactive material into the Pacific during
weapons testing a half century ago and what little research
has been done supports the contention that the Pacific has
done an excellent job at diluting and dispersing these isotopes so that the overall effect has been minimal.
This is an area where what little “research” that is being done is being done and offered up by agenda driven pseudo scientists.
ANY article that does not mention specific isotopes in specific amounts measured in either Curies or Bequerels
per unit of measure is not research, not science and not
even decent journalism.
A proper report on the subject would describe in great detail the methodology of the project before ANY discussion of possible outcomes or issues.
Yeah, that’s what I’m seeing. Something needs to be done about that. Who would be the agency to do it, that the world could trust?

Bummer, man. I had chalked it up to the inevitability of growing old gracefully. That is not to say these old floaters are graceful. But at least I thought it was th natural ebb of my own tidal flow. Now you tell me I am afflicted with....what....a repository of genius and good looks turned a malady from deep sea fishes. I find it disappointing to my legacy. Could it actually be true? Could it be that sac which slightly deviated left could have taken on the characteristic and efficacy of helium Tell me it aint so. Tell me it aint so.

This is constant influx of heavily contaminated water flowing daily into the pacific for over two years - it exceeds the nuclear tests in the ocean.
I used to work as a marine biologist because I didn’t want our country to overfish and kill off us fisheries the way other countries had - ironic to see you just sneer that an academic must have an ‘axe to grind’ and is an agenda driven pseudo scientist. I assume you have proof of this? Because I have yet to see nuke apologists respect the word of anyone except nuclear industry employees. ALL those physicians conducting medical research since the 50’s and all those marine biologists - just a massive coverup or photo op, yeah?

Your choice of units seems iffy - particularly since nuke apologists like to bray that beqs are “completely meaningless’ when talking about dosimetry. This scientist reported visual changes in fish stock that should be examined and probably doesn’t have the equipment and knowledge to test for all the necessary isotopes (requires a variety of specialized equipment and training.) But the starting point is to observe bleeding fish and have them tested for bacterial, viral, chemical, radiological agents.
5 months after Fukushima, Woods Hole marine biologists found small amounts of Fukushima radiation in 13 out of 13 fish tested in San Diego (yeah...let’s just assume they are sneaky academics with an agenda). So why wouldn’t the concentration be higher about 2.5 years later, given continuous dumping?
Don’t worry, if they find out that the origin of bleeding is related in any way to radiologic exposure, you can always show up and insist it’s from those 1950’s tests or something. There’s always a way to imply that the massive plume of contaminated water from Fukushima shown in the computer models is really just a secret wish on the part of fishermen to raise the price of tuna or something.
I think it’s good to keep our eyes open and test.

Yep. It is, however, a question of when that will happen.
If a song did come while I watched two fading and remorseful floaters appear in the bathtub it could only be sung by George Jones....He sang “Today, He Stopped Loving Her Today”.....considered the most mournful and sad song every sung by a country singer. Dying family jewels don’t inspire me very much. I wouldn’t even try. And I am a specialist in sad country songs. You should hear one of my latest,....”Finally Gone”. Perhaps that will be the song when my once-glorious vintage cods turn to a black-eyed pea. How utterly sad to contemplate.
