AP Exclusive: Obama offers new gun control steps

Striving to take action where Congress would not, the Obama administration announced new steps Thursday on gun control, curbing the import of military surplus weapons and proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations.

Four months after a gun control drive collapsed spectacularly in the Senate, President Barack Obama added two more executive actions to a list of 23 steps the White House determined Obama could take on his own to reduce gun violence. With the political world focused on Mideast tensions and looming fiscal battles, the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of a cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

"proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations"

What 'others'? There is only felons and NOT-felons (everyone else)

Better get your Mosin Nagant and cheap ammo before they become too expensive. Prices are about to skyrocket.

I think this would only affect the re-importation of US-made weapons that were given by the US to allies. Basically means M1 Garands and M1 Carbines. Doesn’t matter though. If Obama thinks he can do this by executive order, I’m sure gun registration or confiscation by executive fiat isn’t far behind.

I’ve had a Gun Trust form 4 in to the ATF for near 7 months now. They cashed my $200 lickety split. Heard no word on the Tax Stamp.

I’m guessing he’s queered all Gun Trust applications now.

Sounds like a good time to visit court. A right delayed is a right denied, and allowing for “administrative processing”, over half a year to process a few sheets of paper is a delay of ill intent.

Reposting from another thread: I'd like to see gun owners begin using their power of the purse by boycotting products from gun grabbing states (CA, MA, NY, NJ, MD, CO, IL, ... did I miss one?)

For example, when my insurance policies expire this fall, I intend to cancel my policies with METLIFE (NY) and LIBERY MUTUAL (MA). It's time to spend our resourses in states that respect our Rights.

I kinda like Liberty Mutual, but this crap is getting out of hand ...

Court? What court? Where? Which one? Good thought but our courts very well may not rule in favor of our constitutional rights.

Does the Bill of Rights anywhere guarantee Federal agents the right to bear arms?

I didn’t think so.

So let’s compromise, as Lindsey Graham and John McCain are fond of saying, and allow the Progressives a gun control victory by disarming all Federal agents. This will prevent the murder of innocents caused by para-military, no-knock raids (which clearly violate the Fourth Amendment).

The rest of us will retain our weapons.

What court?
Since it involves a federal agency and 2nd amendment issues it would be a federal court ... for about $300 that is...

Normal Form 4s have been taking 6-9 months anyway. I’ll wait a couple more. If I don’t get it by a year, I’ll write that $200 tax stamp off as a credit and go buy a gun with the money I spent, and is on hold for, on the silencer.
