As U.K. Parliament Debates Syria, Prospect of Military Support Dims

When David Cameron summoned MPs back to Westminster today to debate the Syrian crisis, it was not because the British Prime Minister felt more discussion was needed.

...In a phone call on Saturday, Cameron agreed with President Obama that proof of the regime’s involvement in the chemical attack would merit “a serious response.”

... “There’ll be a clear Govt motion & vote on UK response to chemical weapons attacks,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

...Instead, the 450-minute parliamentary debate that kicked off with a statement by Cameron at 2.30 this afternoon will conclude with a vote on military action only “in principle,” with a second vote—after a second debate—required ahead of any such action. In place of the strong message Cameron hoped to send to Assad, he simply unleashed a fresh barrage of verbiage towards Damascus, and shot himself in the foot.

... Washington’s preferred timetable, thought to have envisaged an air strike before Obama travels to the G20 summit in St Petersburg next week.

I caught some of the debate at lunch ... it was devastating to Obama and Cameron ... Comparisons to Sarajevo 1914 etc.

"Only 11% of Britains support intervention ..."

This is not looking good for Obama ...

Timing, timing, timing. I wonder if Obama would dare to attack while he is in St. Petersburg? And if he does, what would Vlad do?

Add this to the list of how 0 continues to make us the laughingstock of the world.

Problem also is that next time the U.S. pounds its chest and roars nobody will listen - also very dangerous.

Like I said in another thread, Obama and Cameron are both pursuing idiocy. Both are trying to act like tough guys, but they aren’t tough. Add to that the fact that BOTH of them are trying to shove sodomy down the throats of the citizenry, and you have a duo of clowns.

Remember back in the 1980s, when America and Britain had strong and moral leaders? Now it is the exact opposite.

Gee - I wonder if the Brits remember how President O'Bozo insulted the entire British nation as soon as he was sworn into office back in 2009?

Nah.....

Maybe they are still upset for Big Moo getting the Queen in a headlock and giving her noogies.

Nah.....

Or maybe they're still sore about the time Big Moo flashed the crowd during a public appearance with the Queen.

I would love for Vlad to arrest him, that would be Hillarous.

Then have Vlad ship him back via Air Moscow coach class.

Obama doesn’t listen to Americans.

He is following directives from NATO and the UN according to news reports. He DID allow that he would tell Congress, once his directive was imposed.

NATO of course, is guided by international law attorneys and transnational corporations.

The UN is guided by global socialists.

That’s why there is such a disconnect between what he does, and what is good for America.

The debate in Parliament will isolate The One. The conservative there speaks of a new doctrine being implied by the West; one of intervention for reason of “punishment”, over traditional reasons for intervention.

Obama is surely toast, internationally speaking, after this. At least to his credit, Cameron permitted a debate in Parliament. Obama’s interest in the opinion or debate by the US Congress on its own war powers is zero.

I heard that today as well - excellent debate. I hope our House Members were taking notes ... could make for some excellent 'sound bites' if the House chooses to debate the issue, which I hope they will, Ad Infinitum. Good way to bury any discussion of Amnesty bills ...

Obama Liar’s mediots are having a hard time with this reality, that only France is willing to back Obozo Liar and his Muslim Brotherhood kitchen cabinet in a war with Syria.

US finds itself with only 1 War with Syria partner, France:

ELAINE GANLEY, AP
Fri Aug 30, 1:55 PM UTC
PARIS (AP) — The United States found itself Friday with France as its only major partner in a potential strike against Syria, after a stunning rejection of military force in Parliament forced Britain, America’s staunchest ally, to pull out of any operation.

The collapse of British support for a mission to punish Syria for allegedly using chemical weapons puts pressure on President Barack Obama as resistance grows at home — and comes with the irony that France was the most vocal critic of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
