You'd be smart to back off if you want to keep your privilege to post. I'm not saying this as a threat or to be malicious, but JR has put you on notice up thread.

I've seen others with your position say they will support Cruz because the dems shredded any possibility of your position being law by ignoring that principle for two elections. I've seen others with your position come to the recognition that the original intent was to prevent people of divided loyalties to the American ideals from being President.. Ted Cruz has no divided loyalties at all, yet Jeb, Christie, Hillary and the majority of othr candidates do.

Kindly consider those ideas, or at least cease and desist if you still want to be a poster here.

Keeping Cruz in the senate and bolstering our power in the Senate is an argument that makes sense, but this birther stuff is nonsense.

Winstons Julia doesn’t reveal her state.
JCBreckenridge doesn’t reveal her state.
CitizenUSA is from Oklahoma.
dowcaet doesn’t reveal her state.

If you’re constitutionalists, did you lobby your state legislature to codify the NBC definition? Did you lobby your state legislature to require a Birth Certificate for General Election and/or primary ballot access? Are you working on it in your state?

Or are you just planning a federal lawsuit, like the leftists do? Are most Noobie-birthers really Rand-Paulistas? or are they RINO-Cristie trolls?

They need to get over that stuff!

I'm afraid there's very little logic involved in their position - rather, a boatload of emotion. As such, you really can't convince them - it's almost a religious issue.

I believe the law is clear that a candidate must show proof of their qualifications. The law was simply not followed. Nancy Pelosi simply pencil-whipped Obama’s certification. NO change is law is needed, we just need to find a means to enforce the law. Just like illegal immigration: No new laws needed since we refuse to follow the ones we already have.

You seem to have ignored JRandomFreeper’s first sentence in his post (above).

Just do it if you can...You can’t, can you?

JCBreckenridge, what about CATO’s position that Senator Cruz is a natural born American, because he was born in a foreign country to an American mother who met the legal requirements of that time?

"I believe the law is clear that a candidate must show proof of their qualifications."

I believe that you are wrong. What law? Federal Law? State law? Is it true that each of the 50 states runs its own Presidential election in their state based on their state laws? What federal agency oversees Presidential elections?

I am in Illinois.

I’m not any sort of troll. I had no idea that there had been some huge deal previously here on Free Republic regarding Cruz’ eligibility.

I didn’t know that Jim Robinson had said, “Cruz or else.”

I just figured that I was free to express my thoughts about Cruz and the NBC issue without threat of banishment.

“Federal law requires certification of a candidates qualifications”

There is no such law.
That is simply a form the DNC used to notify the 50 states who their nominees are so that the 50 states can put the persons on the their ballots.

Federal law does not regulate the National Conventions or how the parties choose to conduct their business.

To: dontreadthis

dontreadthis: “Is a child born of an American mother not a citizen of the U.S.? If not, what are the “disqualifying” circumstances?”

I see I’m rather late to these discussions. We had dual citizen children, because they were born when I was assigned overseas in the military. However, neither of them claimed citizenship in the other country when they came of age.

I always considered “natural born” to mean born in the US. In other words, I didn’t think my children were eligible to become president. However, Senator McCain was born in similar circumstances. There’s a good (and seemingly fair) article on it here:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/mccain/citizen.asp

BTW, I do not believe everyone born in the USA is a natural born American or even an American citizen. Illegal aliens who cross the border to give birth are not subject to the jurisdiction of our laws.

In answer to your questions, there’s no doubt that Senator Cruz is an American citizen. The debate is over whether or not he’s natural born, and that issue isn’t quite as clear as the other. However, I’d vote for Senator Cruz given what I know now.

All I can find other than that, on the matter are a bunch of concern trolls who claim He “could” obtain a Canadian Passport, But that is a moot point because Ted is in the process of rebuking his status as a Dual citizen.

In essence, Ted is saying he thought he had given up Canadian Citizenship when he got a US passport.
When he became aware that technically he still held Canadian citizenship, he publicly renounced it and declared sole allegiance to the USA.

That satisfies me.

Cato Institute: Yes, Ted Cruz Can be President

Mark Levin addresses Ted Cruz's Eligibility

Ted Cruz does not have Canadian citizenship, all he had was the ability to claim it. He has renounced that right to claim dual Canadian citizenship:

Ted Cruz: I Will Renounce any Canadian Citizenship

Some things I like about Cruz: the fact that he is a Constitutional lawyer and scholar and not only knows it academically but breathes fire about it (is committed with his whole heart), is that as President he would have a bully pulpit to educated the uneducated sheep we have in the American public. I don't even blame the low info voters any more (how many of us have had to bypass and overcome our public educations) - I blame the EVIL Gramscian MARXISTS who have taken over our universities, teaching colleges and public education systems. Having a fire breathing constitutional conservative in the White House to educate people on why our country is falling apart, and at the same time having a drive for an Amendment V convention to propose amendments that would get us back to the Constitution(as more and more Americans are taught what they've been lied to about) would be a powerful combination.

At the same time having the tea party go all out to kick RINOS out of House and Senate at every opportunity, maybe, just maybe we would have a chance.

Our other biggest enemy besides the educational establishment is the media, and having an on fire conservative as President would mean that some of the message could get out past them. I don't believe for a minute that he would sit back like Bush and just allow himself to be framed without fighting back. He's proven he has courage to take them on. We desparately need someone with courage and principles.

But what Jim is saying, I agree with. Conservatives have got to, as a group pick our own candidate EARLY, zero in and support him 100%. Maybe we don't have to pick right this minute, but we do soon, because the RINOS most definitely will have a bunch of mealy mouth semi conservatives to push on us and have us fight over until the most liberal one with the most connections wins. That's what we got stuck with with Romney and we have GOT to stop making that mistake. If necessary, we should have a conservative pre-Primary to select the candidate before the regular primaries, which are just circular firing squads. They have called the shots on this one too many times, and I think conservatives are not going to try to kick that football (Lucy-Charlie Brown reference) any more. Conservatives are mostly good and trusting people (because we are mostly honest, or try to be), and just haven't been able to believe how incredibly dishonest the RINOs are. No more!!!

“I can find no FEC forms requiring certification”

reason u wont find it is cuz it is none of their business. The Presidential election is really 50 separate elections run by each of the 50 states. Ask the constitutionalists why that is so.

there is federal law on federal elections regarding $$$$ donations. Perhaps there was some barking and litigation on this at the time these laws were passed ... regarding constitutionality.

Also see first amendment regarding Freedom of Assembly ... and the political parties.

Oh no. Emerich de Vattel’s rules did NOT hold sway in ACTUAL PRACTICE in early America?

Emmerich de Vattel was a Swissman, writing in French before the founding of America, and was DESRIBING historical methods of determining citizenship in Europe.

Apparently his writings were interesting information, but fell well short of being incorporated into American laws.

It’s sad when we eat our own. JCBreckenridge has apparently debated this issue extensively and heatedly in the past. I can’t remember for sure, but I think it’s the first time I’ve thought or posted about Senator Cruz’s citizenship. I wish we could all be more patient with dissenting views—so long as they come from folks who are clearly conservative—but it’s Jim’s site to run as he wishes. Hopefully JCBreckenridge will be reinstated soon.

There are plenty of folks who are far more knowledgeable about the “natural born” constitutional requirements than I. I always like to post that whenever a constitutional debate ensues, gray areas MUST go to the states or the people. That’s clearly what the founders intended. In the case of Senator Cruz, there hasn’t been a definitive ruling by the Supreme Court (and I wouldn’t trust them anyway). There’s a little bit of gray area, so which result retains the most power in the hands of the people?

I’d vote for Senator Cruz for president.
