US general says Syria action could be 'more substantial than thought'
The Telegraph ^ | 9/3/2013

General Jack Keane, a former vice chief of staff of the US Army, told BBC Radio 4 that he had spoken to senior Republican senators who had been briefed by the US president on Monday, and had been assured that Mr Obama planned to do significant damage to the forces of Bashar al-Assad.

The Obama administration has previously said that military strikes would not be aimed at toppling Assad's government nor altering the balance of the conflict. Instead, the White House has suggested, they would be intended to punish Assad for the alleged gas attack in Damascus on Aug 21 and to reinstate Washington's "red line" against the use of chemical weapons.

But Gen. Keane said he understood Mr Obama was planning a more substantial intervention in Syria than had previously been thought, with increased support for the opposition forces, including training from US troops. He said the plans could involve "much more substance than we were led to believe".

And the Pentagon could not even make payroll this summer. Where is the money to have Obama and Reggie’s Excellent Adventure coming from?

I sure haven’t seen that particular verse. Perhaps EBH overstepped his claim. Nonetheless, the rest is there.

But I’ve gone from a full rah-rah supporter of the U.S. in trying to bring democracy and the ‘American way’ to the world to a home-body Isolationist.

I can tell you what bothers you, deep down; You have a sense that we should bring the 'American Way' to America, first.

Otherwise we are just promoting globalism, communism, radical islam, and fascism -- which is where we find OUR country these days.

With all the firepower being brought to bear, it is obvious to me this asshat is planning on destroying most of the infastructure of the Syrian military and perhaps the general population.........

Our Communist in Chief's reasoning is that if Assad did use gas to kill 1,000+ people, then he will punish Assad by killing more Syrians but he'll do it the "right way", with regular missiles.......

Obama is putting out this story to get more Rep support in Congress. Reps want a more robust response. They want regime change.

Bottom line here folks... if any politician supports obama and his evil doing... they themselves are evil and you will be held responsible for your vote if you cast a vote for their reelection... knowing that these are evil people supporting the largest evil to ever govern in America. Remember GOD in the voting booth... he will be standing right beside you.

Good point Laz.

But more than anything else, it reminds me of my ex-wife. She had such a poor opinion of herself for such a long time that I tried everything to boost her up -— at my own expense and what did it gain me, a supporting spouse? Hardly, she found someone else and we got a divorce. Two years later I was doing MUCH better and she was back where she was before I boosted up her self-esteem, image... etc.

The lesson I learned there is that it all comes from within, our self-respect, esteem and willingness to better ourselves in the face of adversity.

And now with America... Ever since the end of World War II we have been ‘there’, time after time, trying to boost up other countries. We’ve even taken in their poor and discontented in the effort to boost them up individually and it’s come to this, we’ve drained our strength, expended our ‘treasure’ and beat our heads against the wall over and over. And for what?

We are not stronger than we were, morally or economically, we are ‘tired’ and it’s time to put an end to this foolishness. Lead by example and make our nation the best it can be and as for the rest? ‘Let Allah sort them out’ I’m way past being ‘over it’.

Big problem for Zero is that Assad is actually winning that war, and his MB buddies need major help. By degrading Syrias mitary he can provide that help.

Any substantial military action led by Obama/Kerry and the LBGT crew of Generals and Admirals is destined to be an epic fail.
Will enable war profiteers to increase the price of petro based products to insane levels, will enable even more government control of our daily lives.
Anticipate Cypress like confiscation of bank accounts to pay for it all.

McInsane and his little side-kick, Linseed, have been successfully used by El Bozo to unleash the dogs of war. They should take full credit for the results.

>>tilt” the scales in favor of the “free Syrian” forces,<<

Yeah, free Syrian forces. Just an aside, a video was posted (freakin gory) of the free Syrian forces sawing the head off of a guy with a small dagger, then kicking his body off in a pre-dug hole. The guy picks the mans head up by the hair and does a lalalalalalalalalala...and throws it in the hole with the guy just before making a woman kneel beside the same hole and popping a few 7.62 rnds into her and kicking her into the hole with the dead guy.

What the hell are we doing giving ANY sort of support to these barbarians. I mean, this is some sick stuff. This guy probably went and had lunch afterward. Sick sick sick people over there.

I have a feeling that the duplicitous Saudis are on the stage for some reason in this fiasco. However, I also believe there is more to this situation than just Syria and Arabs. I repeat what I have believed for some time; this quagmire is about gold bullion, tons of it worth trillions of dollars and ‘owned’ by the banking powers in Europe but now in the hands of Assad. The bank connection is in the USA, it is in England all the way to the throne, and especially to France and the Rothchilds. It is these connections that put the USA at the mercy of Saudi oil. History needs to be reviewed and heeded as this Arabian nightmare unfolds.

Yup, I think Obama formed his agenda during some twenty years of his youth while listening to his pastor curse America on a regular basis. I think Obama formed a hatred for freedom ("us blacks are excluded") and America ("get back at Whitey"). (My quotes - his attitude IMO.)

However, I think Obama has a problem (more than one I venture). Somewhere along the line of his rise as a community organizer, he received Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Speaking from 45 years of experience, I have found that born-again believers change GRADUALLY from the inside out. Salvation and spiritual wholeness is instantaneous, but the rest - mind, will, emotions, flesh, strongholds, habits, etc. - take years and decades to be reformed depending on the person. God loves them (us) just as much no matter how much work is needed. In Obama's case, the work needed looks like it is considerable. And some may never change in certain areas (akin to Old Testament Israel's dying in the wilderness before entering the Promise Land). They are still saved, but they have failed to reach their God-ordained destiny before going to Heaven.

All that to say our POTUS (like all of us) is a work in progress. This doesn't excuse his attempts to undermine our country. But I think inside somewhere, the guy is conflicted. And I hope internally or externally he'll be stopped from doing what he has set out to do.

You are on the same path then as the people of the early Republic. Remember George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are two examples of those who were opposed to entangling alliances and involvement in European affairs. That remained the focus of US foreign policy until the advent of the 20th century and the rise of Progressivism. It’s past time to return to their tried and true foreign policy.
