Rebuffing Obama, McCain a No-Vote on Syria: Courtship by the president comes up short
TIME ^ | 09/04/2013 | Noah Rayman

Sen. John McCain pulled his support Wednesday for the Senate resolution authorizing limited strikes in Syria, a blow to President Barack Obama’s campaign to get congressional approval for military action in the war-torn country.

McCain, the Arizona Republican and Obama’s 2008 White House rival, has long been a strong advocate for intervention in Syria’s civil war, and Obama doggedly courted McCain’s support for the measure authorizing military force, including during a meeting at the White House on Monday. But McCain said the limited actions that would be authorized by the resolution don’t go far enough in responding to Syrian leader Bashar Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons last month.

“In its current form, I do not,” McCain said Wednesday when asked if he supports the measure, the Associated Press reports.

McCain had previously said it would be “catastrophic” for Congress to turn down Obama’s request. While Obama won the support of House GOP leaders on Tuesday, McCain’s opposition could make it harder to bring other Republican foreign policy hawks aboard. On the flip side, it may make it easier for Obama to win support from war-weary Democrats.

He was cheerleading for this same crap in Libya as well.

As far as I’m concerned, he is just as guilty as Obama, Clinton, Rice and the rest of them for Benghazi.

The fact that he was so for it and now says, “ not in the present form” should scare everyone

No telling what he wants put in the resolution to vote for it

Arizona had its chance to flush this turd. Sure, Hayworth had his own weaknesses, but he would have been better than McQueeg.

By doing this, Obama can have it changed, and both of them come out looking better to the beltway and the rubes.

Not that he's seen the light. He wants even more intervention.

Violating Colin Powell's "Pottery Barn" rule, Obama has yet to fix the mess he left behind in Libya and Egypt. To say nothing of Iraq. (I suppose Powell's rule doesn't apply to Presidents of the same color.)

McCain wants either another Iraq or another Libya. He is demanding that Obama do regime change, obviously after bombing Libya was a great success in his eyes as was Iraq. Another McCain idea (Libya) ,

Tossing a few cruise missiles as Dems want to do isnt enough and he's scared a resolution could bind Obama later. (what if one fails?? Obama can still do what he wants)

No one has considered that Syria’s Air Defense systems were supplied by Russia, and probably manned by Russians. What will happen when we start killing Russians??

[Ø]bama is just going to have to buy off some Senators as he did when he got [Ø]bamacare passed.

Well, there is plenty of our money and our kid's money and our kid's kid's money to buy them off.

I hope someone rises up to challenge McCain here in AZ - I worked phone lines a couple of times for JD Hayworth when he tried to run against McCain and boy let me tell you that he disgusts me in every way. I honestly believe that whoever runs against him in 2016 will have the best shot ever. I will work VERY HARD for WHOMEVER runs AGAINST THIS TRAITOR! I despise John McCain! I would rather see a democrat take this seat than a Republican turned Democrat as I am firmly convinced MCCAIN really IS!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
I question whether this is a blow and a rebuff to Obama. This may be more of the good cop/bad cop routine that Obama and McCain have been carrying on for weeks.
I got McCain’s number long ago.
Here’s how a phony conservative preserves his “conservative rating”.
If a measure is clearly going to pass, he votes with the conservatives. If a measure clearly is not going to pass, he votes with the conservatives. If his vote is needed, though, then he votes with the Democrats and concocts some phony conservative-sounding reason for doing so.
He will always sound like he is on your side and he will always stab you in the back when you most need him.
McCain's not up again till 2016 because someone popular with many here saved his behind in 2010. Plus he was the nominee two years earlier which helped him too.
But his Robin : Grahamnesty is up next year, successfully take out Grahmnesty and it will hurt McCain.
Twisting slowly in the wind. Not a bad vision, I must say.
it would've been better IF ; He was "Twisting slowly" ...
after the last election during the lame session
