About 30,000 more of these kinds of incidents and KC will be all safe to live in again.

The shooting victim suffered life-threatening injuries and died Two problems with this comment from the story: 1. The criminal was not the victim, the homeowner was!!! 2. No one suffers life-threatening injuries and then dies. They suffer mortal injuries and then they die.
Geez, you can't even trust reporters from FOX to get it right.

"The woman told police she was hiding in a closet with her baby and that her husband was armed with a gun and was prepared to shoot the person. Shortly after, the suspected intruder was shot." Way to go Dad!

Apparently the perp had been trying to elude police for several hours. He’d stolen two cars already - driving through a garage door to escape with one of them - and just chose the wrong house to try and steal his third car from.

Really? It’s that bad in KC? I feel sorry for the decent people there if that’s the case.

the 9000 block of Garfield is not the best part of town that is for sure.
I have never felt unsafe in KC, I don't live there anymore but go back a couple of times a year. There are some parts of town that are a bit dicey, but nothing like Chicago, or Detroit.

KC and STL areas of MO always vote liberal (even the dead) and voted against CCW. Those about the only 2 places in the state I ever feel the need to carry.

We live in the ‘burbs’ and we just don’t go to Kansas City anymore. 74 killed so far this year, 5 more than this time last year. All the KC Mayor does is wring his hands and whine that he can’t enact stricter gun control.
It is sad. So many tax dollars spent under a federal judge’s order to improve the schools, so much spent on activities and programs for the ‘disadvantaged’ and it was all for nothing. And so many decent people stuck in neighborhoods that are deteriorating around them.

Cleaver was a crook back in the 80's when I worked for him at his Church. I really think he was probably the worst thing to happen to KC. Now his ilk run the place.
I grew up in South KC (went to Center), it was a nice place to live back then, my folks moved out to Lee's Summit 20 years ago, to get away from the declining neighborhood.
There is still hope for KC, it has always been a culturally diverse, and tolerant town.
