Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has turned down a Russian request to meet with him to discuss Syria, his office tells CNN, making it unclear if any U.S. lawmakers will sit down with a planned delegation from Moscow.

This comes less than a day after House Speaker John Boehner similarly turned down a request from the Russian government to meet.

Russia may not be our “friend” bit at least they recognize an Islamic terrorist when they see one.

Washington is not our friend, which goes without saying.

If anyone thinks Russia is not only not our friend but our enemy they are a deluded fool.

Conservatives need to keep their wits about them. There is no equivalency between the fools in Washington and the true enemies this nation has throughout the world.

As I say get a grip..

It’s a mistake to compare Putin to 70’s/80’s Cold War Russians.

Remember, this is the guy who refused his arrest list, and walked away from the KGB, during the KGB-led coup in 1991, and went straight to work for the Pro-Yeltsin crowd, under the St. Petersburg mayor Sobchack, who was on the arrest list, that had helped to write the new Russian constitution.

Ugh. Disgusting childishness.

I have an idea. We’ll have Cruz, Paul and Lee from the senate be the grown ups. And send a few House members like Westmooreland and Rooney.

Again I've been there and I've had to deal with Russians/Russian Mafia throughout the world.

Its a mistake to think any of these guys are our friends, they hate America, they hate capitalism, they hate everything we profess to believe in under the Constitution.

Conservatives believing otherwise are either uneducated as to what they truly stand for or are fools. I hope most just don't know what they truly are..

Ummm, yes - except the Ruskie delegation is members of their Congress, the Duma. They are congressional equals, not heads of state.

And after all, there is a ‘situation’ going on. Protocol probably doesn’t apply.

Russians are great at identity testing and manipulation and hijacking. And they are presenting us the problem litteraly the way Obama is presenting it to us:

It’s not a question of making Putin friend or not, it is a question of whether we can take down Assad or not, him and the terrorists, both. Obama’s choices are unaccetable just as Putin’s counter choices are unacceptable. They both ask us to take a side, when it should be OUR side, and not the terrorists, nor the Russians. But check it out, we are, in the liberal way, adopting the identity of the terrorists, just as liberals are subservient to their one leader instead of showing some independence from government. Instead of standing up for themselves, the liberals side with the terrorists against us. Why? Because they have no standing against us and they have no character.

We should have taken him down when he talked to Pelosi back under BushII. That was an act of war. Also is an act of war if we would lobby the Duma against Putin, just as Putin is now lobbying our congress while our executive is pretending to exist and protecting us.

Liberals’ allowance of terrorists as friends openly co-ruling the world and America is absolutely outrageous. We do not need these people, who, by the way, are probably manipulated by Marxist protoRussian discontent against our way of life. Better let Russia rule Syria than terrorists here getting our recognition and medals here at home as heroes. This is ridiculous.

This is unacceptable language we have cornered ourselves in. It’s not a choice, terrorists vs. Putin, it is us who should reassert our own independence from any of these actors colonizing us and our ways - and taking Obama down as such vector imposing us this evil choice language.

BushII seem so happy to have Obama successful, but he should remember that we attacked the Taleban in Afghanistan because they would not hand us over their leaders of AlQaeda. It’s not like we are not giving the Russians the precedent to do the same thing to us if our own prez and liberals are going feral as expected.

Let us remember that they now are near a good reason and internationally approved precedent of nuking the hell out of us, even if the terrorists and liberals were bred by the KGB itself. We have shown our colors and intent, whether or not these entities were real or not, and we have shown our arrogance and willingness to support terrorists in Chechnya or Syria, in Russia’s back yard if given the opportunity, and they have fabricated this opportunity and we took it!!!

I think it would be wise for our Speaker of the House to depose Obama and talk to Putin directly afterwards.

I’m sure Kerry and Obama could come to the meeting with Reid, but the wouldn’t.

I don’t see anything back door about the meeting. It wasn’t secret.

We nuke them or they nuke us. Actually, MAD was a good policy when there we clearly defined enemies.

This is nothing but political posturing. Russia is in the same position they were in 1962 when push really comes to shove.

Obama has created this to divert every ones attention from Obamacare starting on October 1, from the debt ceiling, from the continuing budget resolution, from the immigration bills.

When is the last time you read or heard anything about any of these..this is all Kabuki Theater unfortunately its working

“We should have taken him down..”

No argument there..actually we should have let Israel defeat and annex them in 1967 or 1973

Russian politicians weren’t elected to push for American interests.
They aren’t friends and America is not a friend of Russia.
American politicians are as hostile to Russia and it seems like a fair game from Russian side right now.
The problem is Russians and Americans aren’t a natural enemies.
Russians has much more in common with Americans than say Chinese or Arabs or even the French.
United States has inherited a British “Great Game” of pushing around Russia in Asia for a bad reason.
There are numerous ways to cooperate for a common good instead. In was actually Russians who aided US in a War for Independence, they’ve backed the Union, they’ve put their boots on the ground against the Japanese in WWII and so on.

You're just flat wrong. I've been to Russia myself and have a number of Russian friends. They respect America, its history, and its founding values greatly, and lament what the country has come to today.

I in turn respect them, and even Putin, who certainly knows what devils the Muslims are after Russia's own war in Afghanistan and the Beslan massacre by Chechens.
