Senator I could take an average E-4 and by the end of their first enlistment have a better understanding of defense & domestic national security needs than any of the morons sitting on defense committees in Congress today.
While I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer I do realize this much. When the M.E. Islamic nations are fighting each other they usually are not fighting with U.S.
While I do have sympathies for Christians in those nations who's lives are in constant danger from radical Islam {is their any other type of Islam? NO!} I do not see any gain in helping Islamics kill Islamic nor for that matter trying to make them cease from quenching their thousands of years old off and on again tribal blood-lust.
In the meantime our over deployed, undermanned, and over extended military troops and resources have been in an almost constant state into hostile deployments most of which really were not to our best interest and ones that were we did not even address with any reprisals whatsoever. Our military is a shell of what it was in the late 1980's. That's not the troops fault that is the fault of all sitting congress and all POTUS since 1989 - present.
The foreign policies of ever POTUS from Poppy Bush - Obama has grown progressively worse with each administration to where we have literally turned the now highly destabilized Middle East into Armageddon with our now insane Schizophrenic meddling the worse of it coming from the Obama Administration. BTW I am not an isolationalist. But I believe common sense has long left the debate on our foreign policy.
We are broke senator. Our alliances and the good will we once had & enjoyed with many nations has been torn away again by this administration which you seem to be so loyal and supportive of.
Personally I think GW Bush should have kept Powell, Rice, and our nation out of most M.E. fights, stepped aside, and and let Israel handled the issues with some covert help from us. Syria would not be an issue today had each time Israel acted in self defense and in it's own interest our State Department stepped in to stop it.
Our nation needs a new direction which is a return to the old direction. Look at what Reagan did right on foreign and domestic issues. Then weight that against all Obama has done right. Then weigh the wrong done by Obama on all issues. You Senator Graham are an enabler to one who is taking this beloved nation into self destruction.

It's an eye opener if you stop and think. A current twenty year Lifer in the military has not seen an end to the ongoing hostilities and deployments since Gulf War One. Our troops are doing far more and have to make do with far less in all aspects.
If they are really concerned with national security, when are they going to do something about our border?
