Our government is yet again marching us towards a war of choice in the Middle East and our non-partisan, peace-loving celebrities have gone missing since late 2008. We fear the worst.

1. Sheryl Crow LAST KNOWN PRE-2009 COMMUNICATION: “I think war is based in greed and there are huge karmic retributions that will follow. I think war is never the answer to solving any problems. The best way to solve problems is to not have enemies.” — Sheryl Crow

2. Bruce Springsteen LAST KNOWN PRE-2009 COMMUNICATION: “War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.” — Bruce Springsteen

Babs should have known better.

All she's ever done is speak the words someone else put in her mouth. She wouldn't know Shakespeare from Shinola.

...come from someone who wrote exclusively in iambic pentameter.

Obama shouldn't fight a war in Syria because of saving face or reputation.

How'd I do?

Actually, Shakespeare generally reserves iambic pentameter (and heroic couplets) for emphasis. So not every line will has 10 syllables or iambic stress patterns.

Shakespeare did not write exclusively in iambic pentameter. His sonnets were of course written this way; however, in addition to iambic pentameter and blank verse (unrhymed iambic pentameter) his plays do contain some prose.

Random thoughts about the list:

2. Bruce Springsteen: You ain’t got nothin’ on Edwin Starr, bro. (good gawd, y’all!)

4. Ed Asner: I thought you were dead?

8. Jackson Browne: Hit any defenseless women lately, dude?

9. Janeane Garofalo: I can’t believe I had a crush on you when I was in high school.

13. Danny Glover: I can honestly say I’ve never seen any of your movies. Don’t think I missed much.

He was a supporter of Reagan and wrote "Let's Roll" in praise of the brave citizens aboard Flight 93.

Then he started hanging around David Crosby again.

“I got a good laugh out of this list. I can almost remember seeing every single one of these idiots on tv whining a few years ago.”

Well in the interest of even-handedness, almost everybody on this forum supported military intervention when it was our guy in charge.

Bruce Springsteen LAST KNOWN PRE-2009 COMMUNICATION: “War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.”...Excellent - but I thought the "War, what is it good for" line was from Seinfeld's Elaine - her alternate title for the novel "War and Peace"......
