RE :”They couldn’t wait for him to fall asleep?”

My grandma died finally at 101+ a long past due blessing for her,
At her 100th birthday party family reunion she just slept in her wheelchair.
She did blow out the candles after I said to everyone ‘I bet she wont’. She was listening.

107 is amazing.

My Great Grandmother had 6 sisters; all lived well into their 90’s; one of them recently passed at 104.

Every few months there would be some sort of “crisis”...she would have pneumonia or something and the Docs would say she likely wouldn’t last through the night. Next morning she would be up, out of bed, and looking to go to breakfast. It actually got to be amusing...someone would send an email to family members....and we would all go “well, I’m sure she’ll be fine!”

When she finally passed away, the staff at the nursing home said it was obvious that she was getting up for the day and just died instantly...sitting on the edge of the bed with her slippers on. They went to check when she didn’t show up as usual for breakfast. Sharp as a tack, for the most part, to the end.
