What does Putin gain by Assad staying in power?

It is what he loses by the Salafist terror groups taking over that matters more.

The Chinese are also giving weapons to Assad.

There is no love loss for the radical rebels in Syria. There are Chechens and Uygars there. Chechens cause trouble in Russia, and the Uygars cause trouble in Northwestern China.

I hear these talking head elites saying “We can’t trust Putin.” Putin hasn’t lied one time. obama has lied constantly.

I have a feeling when Putin say obama was going to take credit he pulled the rug out from under him. so funny

as part of the arrangements under which the Assad regime has agreed in principle to have its chemical weapons stockpiles placed under international supervision
Cue Jim Nabors, surprise surprise surprise.
