The Legislative District 26 Republican Party in Arizona has passed a formal rebuke of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for abdicating GOP principles in helping Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) secure votes to approve several of President Barack Obama’s controversial nominees.
“Senator John McCain unilaterally negotiated with the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to secure Republican votes necessary to pass a number of controversial Presidential nominees,” the resolution, which passed the official GOP body in the state by a 24-13 vote with four abstentions on Tuesday evening, reads.
The resolution notes that President Obama nominated “Gina McCarthy for head of the Environmental Protection Agency, an environmental bureaucrat who supports anti-job/consumer policies,” “Richard Corday to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFRB), an unaccountable, unconstitutional agency created by the Dodd-Frank legislation,” and “Thomas Perez as Labor Secretary who has a known record for abusing power as Maryland’s Labor Secretary, handing political appointments to Big-Labor bedfellows.”

There you go! They can rebuke mccain all they want but I doubt he held a gun to the republicans’ heads to make them vote the way he wanted them to.
He's stupid, arrogant. He is also an American Hero. He needs to be impeached or recalled. But he does not need the kind of stupid remark that you made.
Actually last I checked recall of a US Senator is both Constitutional and legal in AZ. You see those folks in AZ are rascals. They recognized there might be an issue with recalling Federal officeholders. So before they run they have them sign a statement as to whether they are willing to stand for recall election. I don’t know whether mcvain agreed to but virtually all do.
So what is the next argument against a recall? It would be hard to do?
Well, being a rascally Arizonan myself, I’d suggest a US Constitutional Amendment specifically stating the rules for a recall, because pledge or not, a federal office-holder cannot be compelled to leave office as the result of a recall election.
All this ground was covered, and answered, in a federal lawsuit brought by one Tom Foley in WA state when term limits was the subject at hand, another state-level attempt to restrict the holding of a federal office.
That money was left over from the 2008 non-campaign against Obastard. Anybody who donated to McQueeg in 2008 was in reality donating to defeat McQueeg’s primary challenger. You all know who you are.

Yes, and they also wouldn’t let women vote....a black person only counted 2/3rd a person (although slaves)....you had to be a “property owner” to vote.
They tended to have a somewhat elitist view by today’s standards....which WAS CORRECT for that time. However, they were also wise enough to realize the COTUS was not a “perfect” document and would require amendments. The 17th was a properly executed amendment...it wasn’t something that a court brought into being - it was proper. In the 20th Century, the 17th made sense....and still does today.
A state legislature can stomp a person’s rights just as much as the U.S. Congress can. So, you aren’t going to sell any sensible person into buying their giving up DIRECT control on who serves as a U.S. Senator.
Okay, so what was the reason for a state appointed senate?
I thought it was 2016?
McCain voted against the Dream Act in the lame Duck session. I think Flake was a much bigger disappointment. Mr Libertarian votes for millions of new democrat voters and war in Syria. Then he gets all nerdy with his wishlist of tax brackets that Obama Reid will veto.
McCain is the posterboy for 30% hispanic vote that any Republican will get and endorsing every Obama policy. How the hell can this guy be the key to hoodwinking the GOP into amnesty.
I don’t feel mcLame is bad. Just brain dead. Might have been caused by his deprivation in the Hanoi Hilton. Or dare I suggest, he may be a “manchurian candidate”.

It doesn’t matter anymore. The rationale worked for the late 18th Century...but no longer for the early 20th. The country, following the intent and rules of the COTUS, amended the COTUS to eliminate State Legislatures from the vote and give it directly to the people.
I suspect the early citizens of the United States were still somewhat tied to the British idea of “Lords” and “Commons.” Whatever, I am not a historian, and I consider the argument moot. You are NEVER going to get the 17th repealed and go back to a state’s legislature picking senators.
Now that being said, you should focus on amending the COTUS to allow for recall of any member of congress (Senate or House) to make them fully accountable to the people they are elected to represent. The moment they stop representing the people that elect them...they should be subject to immediate removal.
