Miss Kansas is a deer hunting, tattoo-wearing sergeant in the U.S. Army

Miss Kansas is not in Kansas anymore. And the Miss America pageant has never seen anyone like her.

First off, Miss Kansas Theresa Vail is a sergeant in the U.S. Army, only the second contestant ever to be on active duty.

...

Sgt. Vail is also an M16 marksman, a bow hunter, and a mechanic. Only recently did she add beauty queen to her resume, when she entered her first pageant just nine months ago on the advice of her commanding officer. When she was told she wouldn’t be able to use archery as her talent, she had to pick another one and quick.

She chose to sing opera.

"I'd never sung opera in my life," Vail says. Forty-eight hours later she had mastered a Pavarotti piece she found on Youtube, and won the Miss Kansas talent competition.

I am SO thankful neither of my kids so far, ages 26 and 22, have gotten any tattoos. I never made a big deal of it ...I just raised them with common sense.

I’ll knock on wood the younger son doesn’t go out on a wild night and get one, but so far so good.

I don’t get it. Tatoos on wrinkly saggy skin ...by the millions. Won’t it be pretty? Ugh.

That said, I simply dislike tattoos on a woman. I am not talking about the small, unobtrusive ones. A little thing here or there is fine.

It is when they are big, and they are here AND there.

Sigh. Why? It is said some people get tattoos to look different, but to me, they all end up looking the same. I really dislike the ones that cover the entire arms.

The root or beginning reason for a tattoo is to mark a slave.

THIS one's MINE.

I always think of that when I see a tat ... whether boy or girl.

Whatever the tat says or symbolizes, THAT'S the master.

Think how they will look in their senior years.

That will depend on if she keeps herself in shape. I doubt she will be exposing her torso when she approaches 70.

Those girls on the History Channel programs must have a

I still think they are ugly and vulgar, but I am just an old fart.

She is a good looking woman, but obviously dumb as hell.

For anyone to violate such a beautiful body with something that ugly is just plain stupid.

They should arrest the tattoo guy and break his fingers.

It’s like vandals painting their crap on a Church

You are spot on. Tattoos never enhance the beauty of a woman, but instead take away beauty. Tattoos are horrible, like skin pollution. Everyone who wears them are just fad chasing drones.

A little flower on the ankle, ok.
The disfiguring mess such as this one, ugh.
(although I could be persuaded to overlook it in this case)

That goes for men also, esp. covering an entire arm. U G L Y .

Oh, and I think she has ‘enhanced” boobs. That’s a huge minus.

Placing tattoo parlors next to bars was brilliant on the part of the inkers, but is transforming America into looking like death row inmates.

O hail, yeah ... they are ugly and vulgar.

I've seen some very attractive girls that were defiled with tats.

I don't get it.

I is aware of that. But it’s remarkably ineffective as an ornament.

I’ve had my tats for 25 years. Still don’t regret it.
