Sen, Ted Cruz, R-Texas appeared on the Sean Hannity Show on Thursday, September 12 , 2013 and delivered a sharp response to Russian leader Vladimir Putins New York Times attack on American exceptionalism, according to Human Events.
Autocrats have reason to fear when Americans focus on our principles, and focus on exceptionalism, because its been American exceptionalism that stood up to the Nazis, stopped the murder from the Nazis, said Cruz. And it was American exceptionalism that stood up to the Soviet Union and freed hundreds of millions from behind the Iron Curtin. So Putin is right to be concerned about American exceptionalism.
Cruzs response was certainly more forthright than that of the current president of the United States, which has been all but nonexistent. Cruz went on to express doubt that an arrangement with Russia to deprive Bashir Assad of his chemical weapons would actually happen. He echoed the sentiment of other analysts by suggesting that President Obama was projection weakness in the Middle East, to the detriment of the United States and to the advantage of Russia and its allies such as Syria and Iran.

Ted Cruz Ping!
Run Ted Run!!!
I was afraid Cruz would be stupid and would join with the Putin-cheerleaders in praising that filthy government. Instead, Cruz here has shown himself to have a great deal of discernment in rightly condemning that thug Putin.
He just won my vote and my support for 2016.
Ted Cruz is a great man and will be a great President.
Our exceptionalism is rooted in our historical pact with God. Forget that, deny that, and we’ll be nothing more than a bad memory as our history is re-written by our enemies and our grandchildren grow up with no knowledge of who we were and could still have been.
He reads FR. It’s a winning formula for bloggers and talk show hosts, why not US Senators?
Does he really? It wouldn’t surprise me, judging from what I’ve read of him; however, do you know that for sure?
Putin smelled weakness in obama and he has not respect for him. He sneers at obama.
He will not find that weakness in Cruz.
Just like the schoolyard bully. If you are weak, he increases his attacks. If you smack him once, he respects you and even acts friendly at times.
...a United Nations Security Council vote condemning Syria for attacking its own citizens with chemical weapons... "would unify the world against the regime and expose Chinas and Russias support for this tyrant... we should make them veto it on the world stage... And if they do veto it, we should respond by, with respect to Russia, we should reinstate the anti-ballistic missile station in Eastern Europe that was canceled at the beginning of the Obama administration to appease Russia, and with respect to China, we should go through with selling the new F-16s to Taiwan that again this administration put the kibosh [on]." [Tea party friction: Sen. Rand Paul lashes Ted Cruz approach to Russia and China (s/b 'Rand Paul calls for appeasement while continuing to pretend to oppose Obama')]
The United States was considered "exceptional" because it was created at a time when other nations were either ruled via conquest or through hereditary monarchy and inter-marriage between nation-states.
The United States was "exceptional" because it was created by a social compact amongst the people to live within the guidelines of a constitution and its derived laws, established by the people. Power was transferred via non-violent means, and the people adhered to that social contract.
People today don't remember (or were never taught) why the phrase "American Exceptionalism" came to be.

Ha ha! American exceptionalism. Something the Zero King never would have thought of. He just took his whipping from Putin like the dog he is with nary a word in protest.
Idk. But, I suspect that the smarter ones do. There’s a ton of very good and free advice available here. I’ve seen many campaigns that could have benefitted from a regular perusal of FR.
Putin is an Evil KGB tyrant who wraps himself in Russian Nationalism and The Cross.
Just because he opposes Our Evil KGB Tyrant doesn't make him a Pro-American Leader.
Hell Hirohito was opposed to FDR too, that Does Mean that Wendell Willkie should have sought his endorsement.

I have high hopes for Ted Cruz.
Run, Ted, Run!!
I actually thought Putin was talking about Barack Obama. Obama’s been told he’s “special” ever since he was wearing Burkhas to the Indonesian Madrassa.
DeMint misfired by sounding too defensive. I haven’t read Rubio’s response but I would guess he got the tone wrong too.
Maybe Cruz has gotten it right.
Reagan would have gotten it right.
Reagan would have at LEAST said, “Mr Putin, we are exceptional. We, at least, have NEVER had to build a fence to keep people IN.”
Don’t worry Vlad, Barry was just trying to reach out to the bitter clinger types to jump onto his war bandwagon. You gots to speak the lingo, man. Otherwise Barry is on the same page as you regarding American Exceptionalism. Just a little taqqiya to fool the peasants.
