At least 17,000 teachers and civil servants took to the streets of Greece Monday to protest government plans for massive public sector redeployments and layoffs as the debt-stricken country was hit with a new wave of strikes.

In the capital, isolated clashes broke out early in front of the ministry of administrative reform, the department coordinating many of the changes, with tear gas fired by police.

A mass strike of the entire public sector by its main general union is expected Wednesday.

:: massive public sector redeployments ::

Maybe the locals should do some research on the above “string of words” and then look back at, say, 1932 Italy and Germany.

Might be a wee instructive to these...umm...jackwagons.

More government employees to riot again in Greece?

In the U.S. they’d better keep those big gov lottery style wages, benefits and retirement pensions out of bankruptcy...

Behold the real zombies. "Prep" to defend yourselves against "hordes" of "marauding" suburbanites laid off in the near future. And BTW, the "52%" are probably also dependent on the various levels of government in various ways for their incomes.

Three-quarters of Americans think teachers paid less than they really are
Washington Examiner ^ | 9-16-13 | ASHE SCHOW

"Seventy-four percent of Americans think teachers make less than they really do, according to a new poll from Rasmussen. The average teacher salary in America is $55,000 (upward of $75,000 in Chicago), but three quarters of Americans think teachers earn less than that. Over half of Americans (52 percent) believe teachers are paid too little."

Yes. They started seeing steep pay and benefit increases over two decades ago, when corrupt local governments began focusing more on candidates with degrees and against candidates with combat training (prior enlisted men from military combat specialties regarded as potential “Tim McVeighs”).
