If I recall my American revolutionary history correctly, militia members were instructed by their commanders to run TOWARD the sound of gunfire. On arrival, they would muster and receive instructions on how to proceed.

That is a great story.

It shows the potential that exists in everyone before it gets beaten down by indoctrination.

I was too! Every time I think “why am I sending my kids to this public school?” The students surprise me and I’m glad they’re there! Even a good portion of the faculty is good. My daughter is reading Animal Farm in English class, and the teacher said “ although many teachers say this book is outdated, this is exactly what we need to be reading today.” I like her!
