By sunset Tuesday night, 24 hours after most vacationers were supposed to be back, less than 700 people had been flown out to Mexico City. Many times that number waited miserably on the runway or, worse, with thousands of other sweating, blank-eyed people in a roughly quarter-mile-long line outside the base.
"It's horrible. We haven't eaten anything since nine in the morning," said Lizbeth Sasia, a 25-year-old teacher from Cuernavaca. "They keep telling us we'll be on the next flight, but the next flight never comes."

What's better, staying in an upper floor of your hotel where management is trying to keep the guests as comfortable as possible or standing out in the heat on a muddy runway with crying children? Where are these people's brains? Ride it out inside where there's a nice bed, get a good poker game going with the family and raid the hotel's vending machines.

Storm of some kind down there?

Any Zombies?
You can go for weeks without food. There are days when I haven't eaten since 6pm the previous day.
Acapulco Gold OMG hadnt heard that since the 70’s
Elvis Lies, if he wasn’t dead they could sue him for false advertising.
We were robbed at gunpoint on the beach there in 1974, by Mexican cops. Haven’t been back. The only place I’ve ever vacationed that had warm ice.
Apparently a tropical storm closed down the "twin roads to Mexico City." People are waiting for the airlines or government/military to fly them out.
My brother and sister-in-law just had their honey moon in Acapulco a month ago. I bet they are glad they aren’t there now!
‘Couldn't you find accommodations on the surface of the sun?
Let me guess, it was at night.......
Maybe a good number of the unwanted up here can go home and get jobs rebuilding. While they are gone shut the door.
...I can think of a dozen other third world hellholes I would rather be....
I don’t care who you are that’s funny!
