YOU CANNOT ENFORCE MORALITY!

No, you are wrong. Morality CAN be ENFORCED! That is what many laws do - they ENFORCE morality.

What you possibly meant to say is that government cannot force people to make moral choices. But, when someone makes an immoral choice that goes against statutory law, then that most CERTAINLY can be ENFORCED.

Sorry about that. Morality can certainly be enforced. Look in Muslim nations under Sharia with their enforcement gangs.

Morality can not be enforced in this country without destroying the Bill of Rights and personal liberty, which is far more precious than public safety or “clean communities”.

As an example, bank robbery is illegal because it is a violation of property rights, not because it is immoral.

Abortion should be illegal because it robs the fetus of its property, it’s life.

The biblical warning about being “unequally yoked” is not just for married couples.

Some libertarian ideals are worth a look, especially the long-misrepresented concept of “isolationism” in an era where Ozero has started ten times more nonsense than Bush while spending like a drunk sailor in a brothel.

(and to the navy guy upthread - “defending our interests globally” will either end short of actual allies under threat of land invasion like S.Korea or Japan OR WE WILL GO BANKRUPT, at which point we will be unable to defend jack squat)

exactly, I had a post to me saying how morality should not be pushed onto others but then I guarantee when they are asked if it is alright to have sex with a 12 year old in front of the public they will not answer.

exactly, for what is moral to someone one is not to another.

Maybe the child molester wants to have sex with little boys aged 13, and the 13 year old has no problem with it.
Shall we get rid of those laws and let anyone have sex with anyone as long as they consent, hey maybe a 11 year old girl might consent shall we make it alright then?

Shall we allow all forms of marriage under the marriage equality crap we hear, animals, same sex, lots of wives and husbands.

Shall we allow public nudity and sex, after all some would love that under the guise of no Govt, freedom etc?

The founding fathers would turn in their graves if they saw what is being pushed today

Wow . I have a strong libertarian streak as do many of my friends and family. We’re all pretty right wing. Thing is we don’t even think about sex with kids, bestiality, homos getting married. ..but it seems you’re obsessed with those thoughts. Pretty weird man.

no , you missed the point these are issues which stand for the liberaltarian party.

You must have missed the other issues I pointed out too

Just because we hear no Govt, freedom etc then when you devolve more into the issues more you find open borders, less much less military, no FBI, CIA, all drugs legal, no zoning laws so drugs and women can be sold outside a day care.

As for being right wing, then on the fiscal side yes but socially liberaltaraians more left then liberals

No there is no disagreement between libertarian philosophy and libertarian politics.

That is why the libertarian agenda is homosexuals in the military and immigration and homosexual equality.

How about you get government to not recognize marriage before you promote gay marriage equality and homosexuals in the military.

Government does not have the authority to define, license or restrict personal relationships. That arrogation by government is how the whole mess got started.

Really? So let’s be clear here, you want Islam or the Catholic church to define what legal marriage is? When do you think that the government or some other controlling common authority (including an all powerful church or state church) first got involved in marriage?

Libertarians are not right wingers, they are anti-conservative, that is what the fight is about, not economics Regardless of what you and your family sit around thinking about, it evidently isn’t how to preserve a socially conservative America.

One straw man type argument put up by libertarians on the issue of homosexual "marriage" is that marriages were not licensed by the states until the mid to late 19th Century.

Thomas Jefferson bought a marriage license, George Washington paid for his favorite nephew's marriage license.

Jefferson an attorney sometimes involved in divorce law, lamented that when the Roman empire was weak in the 5th century or so, the Catholic Church took over marriage.

Obviously, contracts define relationships between competent adults. As for Islamic or Catholic marriage, you’d have to ask some imam or priest, respectively.

Nope. We are back to property rights again.

Children are the property of their parents until the age of consent. Laws against underage copulation are about property rights, not morality.

In many states, a 14 year old can marry with parental consent.
