Krauthammer: Obamacare defunding Kabuki, Kamikaze and GOP ‘will end up sushi’
The Daily Caller ^ | 9-20-2013 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 09/20/2013 4:47:26 PM PDT by servo1969

On Friday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer mocked the Republican tactic of using the budget process to defund President Barack Obama’s 2010 health care reform law.

Krauthammer called the House’s vote to defund the law “Kabuki” and warned that it would come back to haunt congressional Republicans.

“I think the Boehner speech is what you would expect,” Krauthammer said. “He didn’t want to do it. He had to do it, so he had to defend it, and that’s Kabuki. I think it’s going to go to the Senate and if we end up with a shutdown, it’s going to be Kamikaze, and the Republicans will end up sushi — very thin slices. And everybody knows this. This is sort of a charade. Cruz is going to get a lot of airtime. He’s gotten a huge amount of airtime. There is nowhere to go on this.”

He did note the law was very unpopular and was fraught with flaws, but he said the Republicans could stand in the way of defeating it.

“The irony is as I have been saying for weeks, Obamacare is so unpopular even the unions are up in arms against it,” he said. “The AFL-CIO came within a hair of calling for its repeal. Right now they want all kinds of changes, which they are not going to get. You’ve got Democrats against it. It’s about to kick in and we heard today that they don’t even have the software that will enable the system to calculate what the subsidies are after hearing that they don’t have the software to ascertain what you say is your income and thus, your subsidy. It’s true, so it’s on an honor system. This is going to be a complete disaster. We’re on the threshold of that. As Chuck indicates, the Republicans were on the upswing of the issue and now this? It’s insane and it’s not going to happen.”

The GOP ruling class has had positively no victories in the last couple of elections. The 2010 victories were from Tea Party.

You cannot listen to these cowards. They have yet to figure out that their cowardly ways and lack of balls is the big turnoff to voters.

Stand up and be heard, be unapologetic and you get people to follow.

Nobody likes fools who want to win so bad they are willing to give up any reason that people would have to vote for them.

Charles needs to get out of the beltway and get a feel for the grassroots. Face it Charles, you will not win without the grassroots. The grassroots want bold winners, not dem lite pantywaists.

They are leaving out the main ingredient - education of the public. We know the President will not sign a bill defunding ObamaCare but .. to me .. that is not the point right now. Right now we need to educate the masses and drum up support. That might take months or never even happen. Who knows? Even if the bill never gets overturned we need this debacle etched in people’s memories that this was a major screw-up of dems and Obama.

we need to be focused on blocking and tackling and not hail mary’s.

I wouldn't hang my hat on this. I think that Obama really wanted to give them waivers, but he's already reeling from his unconstitutional deferral of business payments into Obamacare, his unconstitutional waiving of Obamacare for Congress and their aides, and his unconstitutional fight in Syria. The steady drip-drip-drip of his unconstitutional actions are feeding the thought in many that he, maybe, really does think he's a tyrant.

That's why he needed to back away from waiving the unions, too.

When the time is right, Obama will waive it for the unions, too.

Considering how stupid the voting majority is, he’s probably correct. The media will spin, Obama lie and the brainless will zombie into the voting booth and vote Democrat.
So consider this a kamikaze strike and do it anyway. Make the Dems vote to shut the government down. Do it because it’s the right thing to do.

IT’S PAYBACK TIME

Does anybody remember the complete humiliation of the embassy in Saigon and the helicopters taking refugees off its roof....And the defunding reason why that occured.

As hundreds of thousands of Viet Namese were killed, and the students humiliating returning troops prompted by the socialist radicals now running not only our colleges and universitys but this government as well.

Why are so many “conservatives” predicting failure and criticizing the effort?

Because the vast majority of voters in this country have no idea what's going on and when the propagandists begin saying how terrible the shutdown is and that it's the Pubs fault in their nightly news programs the public will believe them.

I doubt we will get obamacare defunded, but I do believe we will get a delay. If we can expand our majority in the House and win back the Senate with Tea Party Pubs then we can defund it, or continue the delay until we get a Pub POTUS.

I think what was really smart was the Pubs now have a 200 pg bill that responds to the question "if you repeal it what will you put in it's place".

What a bunch of whining defeatists the GOP-e are. They got burned twenty years ago when Clinton and the media convinced the public that the people who passed a budget were responsible for “shutting down the government”, not the guy who vetoed it. So now they operate on the assumption that it always has to be that way. Well, it isn’t 1995 anymore, and there are now conservative media outlets for them to present their case to the public. But not if they are afraid to make it.
