Psst, did amnesty just die?
Legal Insurrection ^ | 9/20/13 | William Jacobson

Looks like the chance of ”comprehensive immigration reform” (a/k/a amnesty) passing the House just got a little less.

From Greg Sargent at WaPo, In blow to immigration reform, House `gang of seven’ bill looks dead

"In a blow to the hopes of passing immigration reform anytime soon, the bipartisan House “gang of seven” plan is probably dead, and almost certainly won’t be introduced this fall as promised, a top Democrat on the “gang” acknowledges.

“It doesn’t appear that we’re going to move forward with the group of seven,” Dem Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a key player on immigration as a member of the gang, said in an interview with me. “The process is stalled. I don’t believe we’re going to produce a bill anytime soon.”

Wow, another piece of good news. Keep the pressure up, this "dream act" nightmare looks like it's almost over in this incarnation.

Amnesty is only as dead as gun control. They’re both like the monster at the end of the horror movie. You think it’s dead and the lovely couple come closer and closer then it lunges at them.

It died, at least until 2014 November where we will see whether the House majority stays Republican or not.

Good news ping. It ain't over yet, but it's looking like we may win this one.

Kudos to everyone who put pressure on the congress, let's not stop until it's truly dead.

Amnesty is failing, because the American economy is failing.

Because America is sending all our jobs overseas.

Frankly if we would hire people, we would be in a position to bring more people into the country.

WAKE UP PEOPLE.

This is what happens, when we offshore all our jobs.

Hire Americans.

Then and only then, can we look at bringing in more Americans.

Bring back American jobs.

It’ll never die, but it looks like it got pushed to the back burner for a spell.

Kind of neat what happens once conservatives in Congress start pushing back, no?

Th killing of this bill, along with staying strong about defunding Bambicare will go a long way towards the GOP and TEA party keeping the House. Keep calling your rep (and the House leadership) to encourage them, they're actually doing the right thing for a change!

Not so fast.....we're talking democrats here. Always look for what's in the other hand. The gang bill looks dead; there's probably something even worse coming down the pike. Bottom line - they won't even look toward what they should - enforcing the current legislation fast and hard in order to drive the border jumpers back across the river.

No, the House wasn’t going to directly pass ‘comprehensive amnesty’ anyway.

They’ll still likely try to sneak by some little ‘dreamer’ or border security bill, which can magically be transformed into the Senate’s comprehensive amnesty, already passed, when it goes to conference.

“WAKE UP PEOPLE. This is what happens, when we offshore all our jobs.”

Companies didn’t take off for overseas for labor reasons. They left because government made doing business here dangerous and expensive. By dangerous I mean city, county, state or federal EPA inspectors can decided they don’t like the puddle on your floor and shut you down. That would destroy most companies. The government will supply your dissatisfied black employee a free lawyer at taxpayer expense to sue you for any imagined “racial” slight. OSHA isn’t quite as bad as the EPA as they give you a chance to deal with whatever issue before they shut you down. But having experts on staff to deal with just the above is a huge expense. Move overseas and you don’t have to put up with those issues or bizarre labor codes, unions or virtually any of the business negatives you get here. But the cherry on the cake is Obamacare. What will your expenses be next year? What’s your exposure? What’s your risk? NOBODY can answer that and that facts makes companies nervous enough to stay away from the US.

This bill in it's current form maybe dead, but the concept ( along with more gun-control climate change etc ) never die in the hearts of these statist, as they look for a moment in time to weasel them in like Oboingocare.

However, I am sensing a change in momentum however small, that because of Bengazi, Syria, Putin, Iran etc they are starting to loose their gravitas and maybe are finally being seen for the amateurs they are.

Is it me or are they on Defense at the moment? This is a beautiful thing...

This is what the senate should have done...but the gang of 8 went to the end even after the bill was loaded with all kinds of shi’ite.

While SOME parts of the bill may have been debatable the end result was a disaster. An insult.

To the very end supporters of Rubio called and email their objections but to no avail as we know. Here in Florida there has been a lot of speculation as to his behavior..rumors and so on. Even his long time political friends seemed puzzled.

A lot of criticism has been posted here..and rightly so ...but I think there may be a lot we dont know.

Part of my family came to the US territories of AZ and NM at the turn of the 1900s from mexico(mexico isnt a real country, just a zone)and my wife’s family came here in the late 80s from Colombia. We arent for amnesty in any form.

They also leave for tax reasons. Property taxes, not only on buildings and land, but also on **equipment** drive companies off-shore.

Gee! Think about it. Government schooling, with up to $30,000/kid/year, is driving businesses out of the country and putting people out of work!

By the way, whatever you state says it costs to school a kid, double that amount. Government schools have accounting practices that would make an Enron accountant blush!
