Psst, did amnesty just die?
Legal Insurrection ^ | 9/20/13 | William Jacobson

Looks like the chance of ”comprehensive immigration reform” (a/k/a amnesty) passing the House just got a little less.

From Greg Sargent at WaPo, In blow to immigration reform, House `gang of seven’ bill looks dead

"In a blow to the hopes of passing immigration reform anytime soon, the bipartisan House “gang of seven” plan is probably dead, and almost certainly won’t be introduced this fall as promised, a top Democrat on the “gang” acknowledges.

“It doesn’t appear that we’re going to move forward with the group of seven,” Dem Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a key player on immigration as a member of the gang, said in an interview with me. “The process is stalled. I don’t believe we’re going to produce a bill anytime soon.”

I don't know why Rubio is taking the worst of the heat, except that we all had so much faith in him. McCain, Flake, Ayotte, Murkowski, Graham (etc) should've known better.

He might really believe that invaders who are parts of communities should stay. He's completely wrong, of course. The US is not about breaking the law and then being rewarded for it.

He should've learned as the process went along, that US citiznes wanted secure borders, EVerify, and sending home invaders before there was any talk about the invaders left. The next step would've been to send home those who could be replaced by US citizens and any who were collecting any form of government freebies (including education).

So why did he get suckered in by Shummer and McCain instead of learning from what his constituents were saying? Maybe in a few years, and with no more traitorous decisions on the invasion, Marc Rubio could sit down and have an honest dialogue with people who trusted him.

Sadly (like watching a good kid go bad) I agree. The Tea Party of S Florida fought like hell to get Rubio elected......

Hard to explain but he was acting very odd during all this crap...and seemed just not there. Several folks mentioned this.

change in momentum....

Don't forget Snowden. The intellectual liberal elite that tended to support Obama are on the whole tech savy and concerned about personal freedom. Snowden being labelled a traitor and hunted to all corners of the earth didn't sit well. Snowden's a traitor but we send weapons to AlQuaida? Huh?

It died, at least until 2014 November where we will see whether the House majority stays Republican or not.

Exactly right! Full steam ahead to keep the R majority in House and (hopefully) make gains in the Senate.

Rubio ran against amnesty as one of his issues to get elected, then turned into its champion in the Senate. I liked what he had been doing, I did hope he would be one of the good ones.

My problem with him is how much he lied about the amnesty bill. I heard him on Rush saying how he would turn against it if it wasn't truly an enforcement first, border security bill. As the process unfolded, and it became obvious his priorities had been gutted, he kept claiming the bill was as he had said. The man even voted against some of his own earlier stated goals of security.

I liked him, but after watching how he lied, I won't really trust him again.

Rubio probably thought he could convert anti-amnesty constitutionalists to his own unconstitutional preferences, but he failed in that regard. That doesn’t mean though that “amnesty” is not coming. Nor does that mean that FL people know he even favors amnesty.

WAKE UP PEOPLE.

If I had a company that manufactured widgets for $1.00 each then sold them for $2.00 each; then found out that I could have them manufactured overseas and have them delivered to my warehouse for $.75 each what should I do?

Absolutely agree with you with regards to O’s falling approval ratings hurting his agenda. I’ve never understood why some fellow freepers refuse to understand the relationship between a president’s poll numbers and his ability (or inability) to achieve his agenda. O’s numbers are in the low 40’s now, once he drops into the 30’s (and he will) many in his own party will turn against him.

We have to watch out for any Illegal Alien bill from the House that will be used to go conference with the Senate on their Amnesty Bill...this isn’t over yet

There are way too many PhonyCon Liberal Free Trader Commie GOP who want Illegal Alien Amnesty...and will do so at any cost

The biggest supporters of Illegal Alien Amnesty are also the biggest supporters of Free Trade Communist Globalism. That is an undeniable fact

Agreed. It's turned in the right direction, but a lot of big money Zuckerburg, Soros types are tempting the GOP with the same thirty pieces of silver they gave Rubio. I think if we keep the pressure on, like the article says, this will go the right way and die a slow, painful death. At least this incarnation of it.

Rubio supported Illegal Alien Amnesty when he was in the Florida House...and killed numerous Anti-Illegal bllls the FL House tried to pass while Rubio was House speaker

He ALWAYS SUPPORTED ILLEGAL ALIEN AMNESTY...this is not a “DC Thing”

Too many people listen to the PhonyCon Liberal spin from PhonyCons like Fox News, Sean Hannity, and others. Those folks support Illegal Alien Amnesty

Anyone who does not support 100% Deportation of every Criminal Illegal Alien...supports Illegal Alien Amnesty. Go from there, and we cannot go wrong

Yes...the Pro-Illegal Alien Amnesty folks want Amnesty...and will not quit until there are more Pro-American House and Senate members

As for Rubio...he has always supported Amnesty...he did so while in Florida House. He did not have to be bought

Is everyone sleeping in this country, right now?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I conclude that they are.

Every time I drive by a Marxist indoctrination center (college, university, or K-12 school) stuffed full to the brim with the children of Christians and conservatives, Yep!, I conclude that we are asleep.

Ah, Marco Rubio.

The “R” after his name stands for “Reconquista.”

Rubio recently said that Obama may give amnesty by Executive Order, and that’s why, according to Rubio, we have to pass “immigration” reform. That’s what Obummer did with the “dreamers” a few years ago. The silence from the GOP back then was deafening.
