I sure hope we’re not being played again.

Thanks for providing this summary of the GOP plan. It raised one big question in my mind, though.

• Establishing Universal Access Programs to guarantee access to affordable care for those with preexisting conditions. The GOP plan creates Universal Access Programs that expand and reform highrisk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care – while lowering costs for all Americans.

This sounds like a promise to make 2+2 equal 5. The high-risk pool would be composed of people who are, y'know, high risks. They're people that the private sector, experienced in assessing risk and reward, has decided are likely to need expensive medical services. That's why private companies choose to exercise their right not to insure those people.

Put a whole bunch of those people into a pool and you have an insurance company's nightmare. So, without a government mandate (the most unpopular part of Obamacare), or a huge subsidy at taxpayer expense, how would the GOP plan meet its pledge to deliver affordable care to people with pre-existing conditions?

Actually I believe the costs of a decent computer should be more, and frankly much more of them should be made in America.

You're a big loser!

Computers are already cheap, thanks to free enterprise.

Healthcare should likewise be cheap, thanks to free enterprise. But it's not, because your kind vote and, thereby, allow the government to be involved in it!

He was basically trying to thread the needle but without using the free market. He, like so many other entrenched establishment Pubbies, especially, mistrust the American people's ability to spend their own money in a way that benefits themselves - and I, for one, am sick to death of it.

Exactly. McQueeg's just a pale Obama.

That's why we elect them! They will know what's best for us, just ask them!!!

Well put!

Um.

Computers are cheap right now, because they’re all made in China.

Chinese costs are rising.

Bring back American industry.

You obviously didn’t bother to read my post since I referenced the fight to bring Medicare in. That was in the late 50s and early 60s.

Nice try though since you comment makes no sense

It’s your right to disagree. And it’s my right to state my opinions and facts.

Obama Rubio and Cruz all have the same problem of not being Natural Born Citizens. That is a fact.

And yes I am a Conservative. I also support and defend the Constitution. I took that oath for too many years to dishonor that oath now.

“Obama Rubio and Cruz all have the same problem of not being Natural Born Citizens. That is a fact”.

If this is the case, apply the George Romney rule to them. He was born in Mexico and ran for president. Subsequently McCain did the same thing, being born in the Canal Zone. In the case of Marco Rubio he was born in Miami, Florida. He is a natural-born citizen. Makes no difference if his parents were Martians.

The only plan the govt should have is to stay out of the way.

Government hands off my Medicare?

I agree with your sentiment.

BUT

By promising to pay, without limit, for any necessary or potentially useful services for anyone over 65, the government in 1965 created a monster.

As with all government programs, the unanticipated consequences have been enormous.

Almost nothing that we take for granted today would have been created without the Medicare blank check.

And the Feds have been printing or borrowing money to keep up since the Compromise of 1986.

The government CANNOT stay out of the way until the promise to pay without limit is revoked. Both parties are rightly terrified of this (since their congresspeople would be hanging from lampposts the day after). The Democrats, bless their wicked commie hearts, know what to do. The Republicans are clueless.

Which is why they are getting their asses kicked on the Hill, day after day.
