Hypocrite Flashback: McCain was FOR Ted Cruz's strategy against Obamacare before he was against it

Turns out McCain used the same strategy against Obamacare at the end of 2009 that Ted Cruz is using now:

BREITBART – In late 2009, the Senate was debating Obamacare but had to shift off Obamacare to switch over to deal with military funding which had been included in a Continuing Resolution (CR). McCain, along with Sens. Tom Coburn (R-OK), Richard Burr (R-NC), Mike Johanns (R-NE), and Bob Corker (R-TN), all voted to hold up military funding before Christmas amid the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, according to the Senate roll call records.

At that time, Senate Republicans had only had 40 members so they could not hold up Obamacare at a cloture vote. Until Brown won the special election in Massachusetts, they planned to stall to try to hold off Reid as long as they could. They also hoped constituent pressure over Obamacare’s unpopularity would aid them if some Democrats had to face voters over the holidays. As a result, they actually filibustered a military funding bill in an attempt to buy time.

“Republicans have said their goal is to delay the bill and force Senate Democrats to go home and face their constituents, hoping for some supporters of the measure to return after New Year’s too fearful to back the legislation,” the Washington Post wrote at the time–a strategy that is all too familiar to what Cruz is advocating now. “If the filibuster on the $626 billion defense bill had succeeded, Democrats would have had to scramble to find a way to fund the military operations, because a stopgap funding measure for the Pentagon will expire at midnight Friday. Such an effort to come up with another stopgap defense bill might have disrupted the very tight timeline on health care.”

Why did the Republicans lose then?

I’m sure McCain will claim that it wasn’t a law back then like it is now. But you know, it makes me wonder that if Democrats passed slavery into law, would McCain still claim elections have consequences or would he fight it?

...if Democrats passed slavery into law...

SoetoroCare IS a form of slavery. We are forced to engage in it against our will. Under severe penalty.

Luckily, The Supreme Court would neeeeeeeeeeeever allow that to happen.

Ain't that right, John Roberts?

McCain doesn't care about obamacare one way or the other. McCain cares about the spotlight and the rotten rat bastard can't stand seeing someone else in HIS spotlight! This is HIS senate...who does that upstart Cruz think he is?

If Ted Cruz came out in favor of Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving McCain would accuse him of recklessly attacking the interests of apple growers. The man is a complete POS!

McCain’s been in Washington too long, and he was not smart enough to comprehend and resist the indoctrination. He should have been retired and put out to pasture long ago. He’s a good example of the Peter Principle at work—far above his level of incompetence—in way over his head.

I don't believe there's anything wrong with his thought process. Live boy. Dead girl. Hands in the cookie jar. Take your pick. Like all the others, he's 100% compromised. Complete turnaround from five years ago, when all the Repubs were united against Obamacare. Ran on that platform. Got elected for it. Then, they got a late night “phone call.” Boner, McCain, Cantor, Graham, McConnell...There is simply no other explanation for their public statements and recent behavior.

You call standing under the storefront sign of a bunch of terrorists in his most recent Mideast trip and the fact that he almost literally had to be dragged out of an invited overnight visit with more of the same terrorists a clear thought process? I think not.

McCain is not only insane, not only a hypocrite, but a completely unprincipled, gutless, spineless coward — and he always has been.

He'd be "personally opposed" but he'd attack anyone who actually tried to do something about it.

Somebody should propose a law that requires all Americans to buy a certain amount of broccoli every year — or pay a penalty to the IRS if they don’t. Let’s see if Roberts the Clown upholds that.

Soros money.

Complete turnaround from five years ago, when all the Repubs were united against Obamacare. Ran on that platform. Got elected for it.

But if the Republicans do what they promised, it might inhibit their ability to play golf with their Democrat buddies.

Besides, the "progressives" of both parties just want bigger and bigger government and to undermine the Constitution whenever possible.

Don't go giving them ideas.

For some reason, health insurance is the only "right" that we are forced to exercise.
