Harkin: Tea Party 'every bit' as dangerous to nation as the Civil War
The Hill ^ | September 27, 2013 | Ramsey Clark

Posted on 09/27/2013 7:29:26 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on Friday said that the Tea Party movement is just as dangerous for America as the Civil War.

“A small group of willful men and women who have a certain ideology about how our country should run and what we should do cannot get their way in a normal discourse and votes,” Harkin said. “Since they can’t get their way they’re going to create this confusion and discourse and hope the public is so mixed up in who to blame for this that perhaps they’ll blame both sides.”

“That is the path they see for taking over the government. It’s dangerous, very dangerous. … Every bit as dangerous as the break up and the Civil War.”

Harking made the comments as the Senate prepared to vote on continuing resolution that would fund the government past Sept 30. Democrats are moving to stip language from the bill that would defund President Obama's healthcare law.

Harkin said Republicans were throwing a “temper tantrum” and threatening to "take their marbles home" unless they get their way on ObamaCare, risking a government shutdown.....

And what is wrong with people like that?

They do not make good cattle easily led to slaughter. They are “dangeours” mavericks and bunch quitters that could lead a national stampede against Obamacare. I, for one, am tired of a being herded by a group of strong-willed bureaucrats that want to decide every detail of my life. I see nothing wrong in being strong-willed in standing up for the right to decide how to live my own life.

“.......... Cruz, backed by Tea Party groups, lobbied his colleagues throughout the week to block the bill in order to prevent Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) from removing the ObamaCare provisions.

In the end, 19 of Cruz’s colleagues backed him: GOP Sens. Jerry Moran (Kan.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Richard Shelby (Ala.), Jame Risch (Idaho), James Inhofe (Okla.), Rob Portman (Ohio), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), David Vitter (La.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah), Ted Cruz (Texas), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Mike Enzi (Wyo.), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Pat Roberts (Kan.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Dean Heller (Nev.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Pat Toomey (Pa.)........”

Time to make Ted Cruz the SENIOR Senator from Texas. Cornyn has to go.

Harkin announced he’s leaving the Senate after a bazillion years there.

Maybe that’s what you heard.

Recently there was another Dim Senator, Lautenberg of NJ, who did pass on.

For heaven's sake. Notice all the Tea Party bashing lately?

The GOP and Democrats are scared to death of the Tea Party.

I think 2014 is gonna look very different up in congress.

Exactly right re: O’reilly, hume and even krauthammer

they are scared! I can smell it. We must have more power than we think.

Someone in our group ought to write our Declaration of Independence from liberalism.

IMHO, we need to rent a barge, float it on the Potomac at night, have the Tea Partiers dress as Indians, and dump effigies of RAT Congressmen into the Potomac. Do it during the furlough when nobody can patrol.

Brilliant!

I think those of of who openly acknowledge ourselves as official members of the nonpartisan TEA member majority, vastly outnumber elected government officials...at every and all levels.

Add the people who are just now waking up, and smelling the horse shit, and it becomes:
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a Republic!
