Todd Blome's phone has been ringing off the hook this week with clients seeking tax advice after learning they'll get a "shocking increase" in their health insurance premiums when Obamacare's health insurance exchanges begin operating.
Letters have been landing in mailboxes all over Nebraska explaining the impact Obamacare will have on people who buy insurance coverage on their own, rather than through work.
Blome, a Lincoln accountant, understands: He got a letter, too.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Nebraska informed Blome his health care plan will terminate at year's end, and if he wants to move to a similar plan his new premium will go up 65 percent, costing him nearly $4,000 more per year.
He distinctly remembers President Obama looking into TV cameras and assuring Americans they would be able to keep their doctors, and policies.
His letter says otherwise.
"Stupid me, I took the president literally," Blome said

MAKE DC LISTEN: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE CLOTURE ON H.J. RES 59
We must oppose cloture on H. J. Res. 59, so that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats cannot sneak in funding for Obamacare. We need you to call your Senators right now: tell them to oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59 and remind them that a vote for cloture IS a for funding Obamacare.

Yep, the faces of the people who will help us move away from the Abyss.
Moderate and Conservative Democrats.
Believe it or not, there are lots of Democrats who are normal people but not politically active.
They are waiting for someone to lead.
That Affordable Care is costing people a lot of money.
So far, I am only hearing about folks who bought their own individual/family policies and it sounds like their rates are increasing to what group policy rates are now if you get insurance through your employer. Any word on how group policies are changing yet? I’ve not heard anything about mine except that it is obamacare compliant.
“He distinctly remembers President Obama looking into TV cameras and assuring Americans they would be able to keep their doctors, and policies.
His letter says otherwise.
“Stupid me, I took the president literally,” Blome said”
Gee, I feel so sorry for this idiot and his family...NOT!
Yup.
And they're the lucky ones. They're getting off easy.
This is what happens when you accept anything any politician says without verification.
Most low/no information voters are too ignorant and or too lazy to do any fact checking.
That is the ONLY reason we have bHo in office as his only qualification was his blackness and NOTHING else.
He will be a permanent black mark on this country!
Just like some who only heard what they wanted from Rubio when he stated quite cleverly (or so he thought) that no FEDERAL dollars would go to the criminal trespassers (my correct words for them) for any of the benefits offered by the immigration changes they were trying to sneak by us.
A simple check showed he didn’t lie directly but just as dishonest he lied by omission as the States will have to pay for all the giveaways to these sneak thieves who are too dumb to learn our language but not so dumb to steal our hard earned money.
......I have no sympathy for someone like Blome who is stupid enough to believe Obama on ANYTHING and I mean going all the way back to the first time any of us ever heard of the little socialist/marxist creep. I would say that sometime in 2007 to 2008 that I first heard the name Obama. Within a matter of days, I had concluded that this guy was as bad as his history demonstrated and that he has turned out to be. Where was the mind of millions upon millions of Blomes? Are the Blomes of the world naive? Are they stupid? Are they so busy with their little lives they don’t pay attention to WHO their presidential candidates are? Are they voting to feel good? I mean, my god, hiring this guy to be president was like hiring a backhoe operator to fly a loaded 747 to London!
So, I say to the MILLIONS of Blomes out there......................TOUGH! Write a check for $4,000.00 and suck it up!
A lot of people are getting a wake up call. And in this case he is going be writing a check for more than 10k since the 4k is in addition to the cost for the original policy.
When I was considering changing jobs a few years ago I learned that to insure myself individually rather than in my current employers group would raise my cost (cost meaning my payment plus my employers payment) substantially; by purchasing through my professional society group I could get a cost only about 10% more than employer group total cost. Why would the group rates you refer to be more expensive than individual rates?
I’m fully aware of that. The GOP seems oblivious to it. I’ve always said that is a much better strategy to peal off conservative apolitical Democrats than to focus on becoming more liberal. The problem I believe is that many GOP believe Obamacare is never going to be repealed and some don’t even want it to be. They are members of the political class that if they are upset its because they don’t have the power so the goal isn’t necessarily a principled one with them. They see themselves as agents of big govt they just think they are better managers of it.
I agree with you 100%.
They voted for him, they can learn now to live with him.
I especially liked your comment about they did no research on the guy. It took me all of about two days of superficial work to know this guy was the second coming of the devil. In a just world, every media clown who provided cover for him and supported him needs to have their head on a pike around the white house.
Let’s see. Who was the Senator that put ObamaCare over the top? Does Ben Nelson come to mind? A he’s still showing his scum arse around there with no repercussions. That’s what is sad.
Some I know of will experience an increase in deductible, co-pays and out-of-pocket. So while your monthly cost may not increase a lot, it will cost you significantly more if you need to use your insurance.
I found that our group policy jumped 40% last Nov when yearly enrollment occurred.
The 40% referred to monthly premium.
I switched to a lower cost, lower coverage, higher deductible plan to avoid the increase. I’ve probably already spent $3000 more this year out of pocket due to the change. So, either plan I chose would have cost me more due to obamacare.
What is more sad is how the Nevada Republican Party leadership supported Harry Reid over (Tea Party) Republican Sharon Angle. I was astounded, and the repercussions are still stabbing the country and Constitution to death.
